In dieting, is it more important to hit ratios or amounts? i.e. 160 g protein, 180 g carbs, 40 g fat or just trying to maintain the relative ratio: (35/40/30)

götüne sikim tbh

There is no magic number handed down from God in a sacred text engraved on two stone tablets on the mountain top. Needs change with context, and cravings are sometimes useful indicators of needs.

this, listen to your body, smell your shit and look at your piss

Most important is

1 total calories- be in a deficit

2 protons - 1g per lb body weight

3 vegetables - eat your vegetables eat your vegetables eat your fucking vegetables.

Tracking fat or carbs is pointless. Just eat clean and those will take care of themselves.

This. Look also to your skin.

As long as you feel energetic enough, you're fine.

 No.130596

Amounts. You only need so much protein and fat to repair your body and produce hormones.

When you need more total energy eat carbs, they are the primary energy source.

I think some things are import ratio-wise, like sodium-potassium ratio, omega3-omega6 ratio

>total calories- be in a deficit

what if I'm trying to gain muscle? Wouldn't I have to exceed my TDEE then?

 No.130614

>>130578

The goal is to meet your nutritional needs without an excess; ratios are a guideline to accomplish this. So amounts, IMO.

>>130594

you need to have an equal ratio of protons to electrons or else you'll become electrically charged which can be dangerous

 No.130773

Calories before macros before macro quality/micros.

>>130600

If you're a beginner, which I would assume you are based on this question, you will make gains hand over fist unless you're starving or eating zero protein. You'll make gains faster eating above TDEE but you won't need to for a while. Body recomp people also swear by eating surplus on work days and defecit on rest days, so you may wish to consider.

> you will make gains hand over fist unless you're starving or eating zero protein

this makes sense. I've been lifting since september and only been regulating my diet since mid november, and I've already seen a change in my body.

>Body recomp people also swear by eating surplus on work days and defecit on rest days

I already do this inadvertently, so I'm glad that it helps
