Hi /fit/. I know this ain’t really fitness related as much as it is health but I really need help. I have tmj, which by itself isn’t a big deal and something I can live with, but lately it’s gotten worse, causing headaches, tinnitus, vertigo, and vision problems, which makes it impossible to drive. I can’t even sleep well without wearing a head wrap and a snore guard to keep my jaw as still as possible. The right side of my head always feels hot and my ear itches like fucking crazy because the bone is pressing into it.

I don’t make a lot of money and insurance is being a massive kike about covering any kind of help. Please, if anyone on here knows of any way to alleviate that aggravated nerve in the inner ear? I’ll do anything I don’t care if it hurts I just want it to fucking stop. I’ve been doing proper posture, eating cold and soft foods but it’s not enough.

I've been doing physical therapy for a couple months. it doesn't fix the joint popping, but it has helped my range of motion and made the pain better. Be mindful of your resting jaw position at all times mine is a clenching issue as well as grinding at night. Not sure about anyone else advice but most people will recommend neuromuscular dentistry or a chiropractor for actually rectifying the joint instead of just treating it or letting it come around on it's own.

Well what all have you tried?

Have you tried sleeping with a fan, a humidifier, and/or a better mattress and pillows?

Have you tried those videos on JewTube about melatonin waves and happy frequencies and shit? Relaxing soundtracks? Rainy mood maybe?

I don't know much about any of your problems really but I'll throw in whatever I can.

My mom used to grind her teeth at night and she had to by a mouth guard. Even I used to grind my teeth really hard in the mornings and I started noticing tooth pain. I don't know what I did to make it stop, but I have stopped keeping my teeth together throughout the day, but I do occasionally bite down hard sometimes I've noticed. It's whatever I guess. Maybe it's all psychological.

Actually, one serious problem I've noticed (aside from this fucking cavity I've had for almost 3 years) is violent twitching and spasms in the night when I'm trying to sleep. It's during REM and it wakes me right the fuck up. I have no idea what to do. It's not every day or week, but when it happens it worries me so god damn much.
