Benching hurts my mcp joint in my thumb. I really enjoy using my thumb, how do I not fuck it up? I don't want to damage my wrist, do I just guy a special glove that can depressurize my hand but keep pressure on my arms? Does that even exist?

What grip are you using? I use a suicide grip with a barbell to reduce thumb strain.

I try keeping my wrist straight but I know for a fact the majority of the bars pressure is put directly on my mcp joint. Right on the bone.

Also I've used the suicide grip before, but the bar placement is still on my mcp joint.

You guys know that is called suicide grip for a reason? You have a 30% possibility of fucking dying every time you grip the bar this way. Learn to grip the bar correctly, and you will feel literally 0 thumb strain

Show me the correct way, close grip, I wanna feel it in my triceps.

Have you tried using a thick handle barbell or fat grips? That may distribute pressure in a more favorable way for your joint.

I've been thinking something:

When you do push-ups you are lifting about 65% of your body weight, it goes up to 75% if you elevate your feet to parallel.

So a man weighting 80kg is lifting 80kg * .75 = 60kg when doing a push-up, which is the same as benching one plate.

When you perform a one hand push-up you are lifting twice as much weight per arm, thus the 80kg man is lifting the equivalent to a 60kg dumbbell press. Following the rule you can bench 3 times what you can db press, this is roughly equivalent to a 60 * 3 = 180kg bench, or nearly 400lbs.

So why bench at all? All you need is to get good at push-ups. You can work your way to a one hand push-up by doing them on an incline (the steeper the easier it gets).

Pushups don't just use pecs.

I just had to jump off a 3 foot brick wall just to get around three dumb whores blocking the fucking sidewalk. And the landing pulled my calf muscles in my left leg. I'm pretty fucking pissed off.

Either tell me how to fix it, or tell me how to get revenge on those retarded sorority sisters. I'm thinking either an ice bath and a massage, or spreading airborne STD's and parasite infestations.

Body weight exercises is the way to go. Unless you have a cow to lift everyday from calf to bull.

It doesn't work like that. The progression is not linear when you do pushups

>mid length grip.

I said close grip.

I've never had this problem, and I have a habit of pressing my thumbs into the bar on lifts.

Hell even on pullups I have my thumbs flat on the underside of the bar.

I use grip trainers all the time though, and with my thumbs as well.

Maybe you should just do what I do and just grip trainers all the time switching between your fingers and thumb?

I can't find a pic of it, but wrapping your fingers around one side of the grip trainer, and then squeezing it with your thumb.

First time I did that my thumbs were just dead and I couldn't apply any pressure with them for a day.

Now I do it all the time and I have massive grip strength.

A grip trainer?

I guess I'll try it if I can. Until then today I'll see if how close the grip is matters.
