Hi fit I just started working out and I am underweight

I'm 5'9 and only 56 kg and should be in the mid 70's. I've found out that I have a strong core and can very easily do squats but my upper body is extremely weak, I can't even do a single push-up. Yes I've read the sticky and all the info images on diet. I assure you I'm eating healthy foods like mad and pushing my stomach to the limit.

Push-ups, pull-ups, sit-ups, and bodyweight squats, for the one without gym. Try to do at least 100 a day, even if split.

Enjoy noob gains.

I would also recommend using dumbbells if you can get them, to train arms, shoulders, chest and back more fully.

Even a pair of cheap dumbbell handles and a few weights (2.5lb and 5lb, maybe 1.25lb) gets you much further than bodyweight alone, and you could get those together for like $60-80 new. OP has a lot to gain from bodyweight, so he could do that while poking around Craigslist for a couple months. If he's still going strong after a year, then maybe he can look into investing in a nice olympic barbell.

And there's always alternatives. Sandbags, kettlebells, heavy household items, stones, nigger-rigging weights out of concrete and plastic bottles/buckets, you name it.
