I got hurt training for half marathon. Tried to tape it up and push through . Now it hurts even worse. The pain seems to be spreading up to my knee now. Can you give me any advice about running through a medial ankle sprain?

Side note: I am looking into acupuncture.

Let it heal you tard. I've gotten sprains and such from running and continuing to run on it will only make it worse as you have noticed. The healing process takes a while but that's just the price you have to pay for being careless, no way around it.

Go to a reputable sports clinic and see a physiotherapist. They'll show you things to do. They'd probably do some electrotherapy.

Rest it for 2-3 weeks. You should be moving it and walking though

This is probably the only reliable way to cut down on recovery time other than a strict regimen of RICE (rest, ice, compression, and elevation). Of course they aren't magic and there's no way you can go from sprain to marathon ready in two weeks, so it's best to stay home and let it heal on its own over the next month or so, marathon be damned.

I sure hope you aren't the OP, by the way. Telling people not to visit a physio but going to acupuncture instead is off-the-charts retardation. Might as well throw that money into a fountain and hope for a miracle.

Acupuncture is a needle being stabbed next to a nerve, and then allowed to hang down so the pressure of the side of it against the nerve causes the nerve to malfunction. This makes you feel weird, and the acupuncturist says you're feeling your "chi flowing" which is retarded, it has no medicinal effect.
