 No.127381

I am joining the French Foreign Legion in June /fit/ should I just abandon the iron church in favor of bodyweight and cardio? My friend who was spec ops told me I should at least squat and deadlift.

 No.127382

Why are you doing that? Its a really stupid decision.

Been there, done that. Did not get in.

Running and pull-ups is all they test to get in. Tell us how you measure up in those areas.

 No.127393

>>127386

Merci beaucoup. I have been following the physical prepardness guide on Cervens. I been in infantry reserves over 3 years have some idea of army life.

>>127388

Beep test level 11. Pull ups 11 in a row no kipping.

 No.127394

>>127388

Why did you get indefinite? You got bad medical issues? Only thing wrong with me is very slight near sightedness. But my eye doctor said I do not need glasses.

 No.127395

>>127393

That's already better than average, you won't be turned down because of your level of fitness, that's for sure. I did more pull-ups than you, but your beep is better than mine. I saw both men who did worse than me get in and men who did better be rejected, fitness is only one of the criteria they use.

>>127394

Inapte definitif is given to those who complete the whole selection process and pass all tests (medical, physical, iq, interview, background check) but who are not picked by the final selection committee. They have more applicants than they have spots for them so some perfectly good candidates are always rejected.

 No.127396

>>127395

Work my ass off daily man.

So you can go back and try can you? If I get turned down I will probably try again if possible.

However one guy here tried to join before joining the Canadian Army and they told him to come back when he robbed a bank. I dont like how pussy the Canadian Army is getting. I dont support it anymore.

 No.127397

>>127396

No I cannot try again, that's what definitif means.

I remember someone else who got inapte definitif at the same time as me asked the corporal if he could apply again and he said to wait at least a year, that they sometimes overlook that and give you a second chance, but they may as well turn you down on the spot. It's also possible to send a letter to the General asking for a second chance, he's the only one who can overrule a decision.

I'm not trying again. I was already a superb candidate who should have been among the first chosen. They decided to accept instead a bunch of illiterate Africans whose identity could not be verified.

BTW, here's a tip for you: 80%-90% of the men there got ill during selection. Get flu shots before you go and try to smuggle some OTC flu medication just in case.

 No.127398

>>127397

Thats bullshit my man. I really hope I can get in. If not I can reapply to the Canadian Army when I get back from France but then I will be all fucked financially and probably live with my dad for a bit.

I wanted originally to try the USMC but as a Canada its harder to get in there. And I am 26 going on 27. I will be soon be too old for them anyway.

The harassment policies and lowering of standards in the Canadian Forces pisses me off. I got slapped around and beasted plenty of times but a few weak pussies go ahead and destroy the goddamn army.

Your age is ideal, most of the guys who were too young were turned down, same as the older guys.

How's your French?

 No.127401

>>127399

I read somewhere that FFL will take younger people in their early 20's.

I thought about joining in 26, I'm 24 now.

 No.127402

>>127401

From what I saw, few -if any- Westerners younger than 20 made the cut. Some young Russians did.

Being in your 20s seems ideal. I don't think early 20s or late 20s makes a difference.

 No.127407

>>127399

My french is basic af. Canadian schools teach you French from grade 4 to 9 or age 9 to 15 and lets just say I slept through most lessons. I am working on before I go.

>>127401

Why wait fam? I wish I went 3 years ago tbqh

 No.127409

>>127407

I can't remember where I read it, but some dude who wen't to apply wrote that bunch of guys in their late 20's got rejected.

And he said it was because they want younger ones.

But he maybe got wrong impression or something.

 No.127410

>>127409

Well I probably wont get in but if I dont go and try I definitely wont get in. Catch ny drift?

 No.127411

>>127407

If you don't know French, the legion will teach you if I remember right.

I'm planning to join the US military, but if that doesn't pan through or I decide I like the military after my contract is up, I'll be applying for the foreign legion probably.

 No.127413

>>127411

I'd imagine they want older guys who are willing to die for no cause rather than young'ns who have their whole life ahead of them last time I checked. Be ready for jungles and hot-as-fuck climates.

 No.127421

>>127411

>If you don't know French, the legion will teach you if I remember right.

They will show you a beer can and you will have to say C'est. Une. Cannette. De. Bière

Each mistake will mean push ups for the team.

>Only thing wrong with me is very slight near sightedness. But my eye doctor said I do not need glasses.

Get glasses anyway. It's one of the few things they allow you to keep and will help immensely with shooting. That's one of the major components of your final score after basic.

In fact, tell your optometrist you are a recreational shooter who's having trouble at 50m-100m targets.

I would pay a LOOOOOT of money to have my own little monkey companion who smokes and drinks with me.
