Is creatine just a meme?

I've been taking mono about 5 grams daily (with juice) for 20 days now, and I don't really either see or feel differences.

I think one in three people are non-responders so chances are you're one of them.

>>one in three people are non-responders

Yea, I've read that but thought it was bro-science.

Made a little more research and the non-responding thing hasn't been much studied yet…

I think I will keep taking it until I have some left, maybe it's my fault, I may not have drank enough water in the past days and possibly got a little dehydrated.

question:

1- what were you expecting?

2- are you fit otherwise?

considerations:

creatine works, but best for intermediates weight lifters

meaning, that is for those who already reached some sort of success on their own, and reached some plateau

it gives a slight more power to push out while weight lifting, and also makes the body retain more water, giving off a buffed look

but creatine on its own doesn't anything, that small strength only helps those are already at their strength limit

thus not for beginners

 No.124304

Are you drinking enough water? Besides, if you have a lot of creatine in your diet already, you might have a tolerance that many would call non-responsive (or whatever). That's just a guess, maybe you eat a fat steak everyday, who knows.

I only take creatine when I've missed a few days, when I change my routine, or have a really crazy day where I either get blown out doing high rep or isolation stuff. tl;dr, it helps me avoid DOMs, and I'll only take 2-3 grams for a few days.

 No.124305

It's frequently subtle and rarely life changing. You should not consider it ineffective unless you watched your weight closely before and after administration for a full month. If you gained 5-10 pounds, that is a sure sign it has hydrated your muscles. I recommend it because of its cheapness, safety, and great quantity of research showing health benefits for many tissues including the brain. If you haven't been reading about the research, I can see why you would be dissatisfied. It won't give you an acute boost like anabolic steroids. It should be taken for long term health of the entire body. If you're desperate and impatient, it's not for you.

i feel quite nauseous the couple of times i took creatine and it has put me off from continued use, does that go away with consistent use?

also i do drink multiple (strong) cups of coffee a day, is there even a point in using creatine then or would i need to stop drinking coffee for it to make sense

List all the ingredients on your "creatine" supplement and what you take it with.

Not a meme for me. After about 2-3 weeks on at around 5 grams a day Ill be about 5-7lbs heavier and have a 10-15% gain in max weight I can lift on every set. That shit works. For me at least. It doesn't do shit for my buddy, however.

 No.124356

>>124347

like other anon said, creatine should be the only thing in your creatine, and it shouldn't affect at all how you feel, it had nothing to do with coffee

 No.124440

>>124353

creatine monohydrate is all. just mix it in some water and drink it with that

>>124356

wasnt thinking about combination creating the nauseous effect, more that supposedly creatine effect is reduced/nullified from caffeine, but i'll do some research on it

 No.124448

>>124440

You can't absorb it easily in plain water, and perhaps it irritates your gut just settling in there undissolved. You are supposed to mix it primarily with sodium and secondarily with sugar. So either put it in salted, sugared milk or salted juice or put it on food. If you choose something acidic like orange juice, drink sooner rather than later, perhaps add baking soda, and keep it cold to prevent too much degradation into creatinine.

>You can't absorb it easily in plain water, and perhaps it irritates your gut just settling in there undissolved

is that really a thing? I was taught to just drink it with water too,

right I've switched to mixing it in with a pre-workout shake, banana + creatine + soluble coffee (plus eating a egg or two)

 No.124512

>>124498

You're supposed to bind it with sugar. It's why ketofags and bodybuilders drink like a shot (2oz) of fruit juice with their pre-workout creatine since they're afraid of having too many carbs or some other bullshit.

 No.124520

>>124498

Uptake is certainly hindered by a lack of sodium and sugar. That it could irritate the gut by itself is my own conjecture. I've never taken it in plain water, and possibly the reason nausea is almost unheard of as a side effect is that most people are taught from the beginning to mix it with something and dissolve it.

 No.125034

so here is one question, I'm starting to get bigger and feeling puffed up now, but I'm afraid it's just the creatine and as soon as I stop taking I'm going to lose all gains

 No.125036

>>125034

Have your lifts gotten better? If yes, it's not the creatine.

 No.125037

>>125036

>Have your lifts gotten better?

here is the thing, I'm not entirely sure

since I've started my last program it certainly gotten better, that is, I started weak and only now am able to get through it comfortably

but here is the thing, lately in the last couple of week I really haven't noticed much improvement and am feeling tired as fuck through the workout
