hey /b/, I'm doing the 100 pushups program, and I'm on week 4. Problem is it took me like three weeks of week 3 to progress to day 1 of week 4, and I can't even fully complete the last rep. Why am I not making good gains? I'm eating at least 100 grams of protein a day (I weigh 180, but most of it isn't lean muscle mass obviously). What's the deal?

I have never done that program, but I would assume the person who wrote it did so without completing it first. If you are still making progress, feel free to repeat days in order to get through it.

Those are programs made by illiterate retards. Any sane trainer balances movements so your body won't be fucked up. Due to the classic viewpoint you need to balance these 100 push-ups with 100 of any horizontal pulls since push-up is a horizontal push exercise. Some modern guys also demand to balance horizontal push exercises, horizontal pull exercises and vertical pull exercises (vertical pulls not included) with any shoulder external rotation exercise, so that would be 200 of any external rotation reps. The reason for that lays in underdeveloped shoulder external rotation muscles (infraspinatus, teres minor and posterior part of deltoid muscle) in case you're training shoulder internal rotation muscles with exercises listed above. (However, horizontal push exercises with classic hand position do affect external rotation muscles a bit but it's still better to train them directly)

Besides, 100 programs are retarded. I lived in and out of a 100 push-up program for the better part of two years. You eventually get to the point where there's too many reps and not enough sets, and not enough (or zero) warm up sets. Then you have to make sure your upper/middle back, especially your rear delts and low/middle traps are keeping up as well because you can create some precarious imbalances that can lead to injury. And like >>123123 said, and I will agree, most of the idiots writing these programs probably never even completed them. They usually are the stereotypical bald fucks that like to film or photograph themselves working out in their underwear or some shit. Fuck those people and fuck their program.

I actually dropped that program for good this year and haven't felt better. I'm actually making ground on my push-ups, bench, and ohp in ways I never could dragging that useless program around.
