Does your dad lift? Is your dad proud of your gains?

Have you ever gone to the gym with your dad and what was that like?

 No.118865

my dad lift but he got some injuries and he cant do deadlifts or squats, i told him that he is gay

 No.118877

my dad didn't lift a day in his life.

he's worked hard his whole life though. combination of 24/7 farm work and factory maintenance. and the result is massive hulk arms and a beer gut.

seriously, his hands are the size of small shovels. him and my grandpa on my mother's side have massive hands. i was actually self-conscious about my hands being kind of small for a while, but i'm still pretty young. comparing myself to 40+ men who've worked like horses their whole lives won't do any good right now. i'm sure i'll grow into it as long as i'm not a lazy bastard.

>does your dad lift?

No

>Opinions about your gains?

He's disgusted by them because he took the judo koolaid about gains years ago, and thinks that ottormode or Bruce Lee are the "ideal male body." Fucker trained in martial arts for a decade/has the trophies and fucked up jaw/permanently blind eye to prove it, but won't teach me jack shit about fighting. Won't even shoot shit with me (he's a fudd- last gun he shot was a shotgun some 30 years ago bird hunting).

>Training with him?

I offered once. He came as a guest and bitched about my bench press being shit, but he couldn't even do 1pl8 squats so I didn't really give a shit about his opinion. He ended up fucking with the cable machine for a half hour then doing cardio, and told me I was gonna get a blood clot when I was doing 3pl8 deadlifts. Haven't invited him back since.

>Does your dad lift?

My dad is in his 50's, but he still looks jacked.

He has been working his whole life.

But he is kind of fat-strong and doesn't work out really.

>is your dad proud of your gains

Maybe if it got me money then he would be like "that's my boy" but I could come in looking like mister Olympia and he probably wouldn't notice.

>Ever gone to the gym with your dad?

Went to the gym with my mom a lot when I was doing college.

She was taking some courses for who knows why, so we went to a couple of the same classes in community college and went to the gym a couple times a week.

Pretty natural about it, she didn't like, embarrass me or anything or make scenes.

yes, we did cardio. it was awful

 No.118902

My dad is a live in houseboy for a 300+ pound gay man and is 9 inches shorter than me with nogains. I'm pretty sure if I went to the gym with him it would be extremely painful.

Yes my dad does. He recently (past year or so) got back into it, after not working out for almost 20 years (he used to lift like crazy in high school, but real life called and he took a very demanding job for the money). He weighs 210 Ibs at 6'0", and is solidly built. Fairly strong, but not holy shit strong, but still doing very well for 45.

He is routinely my workout partner, because he works out later in the evening and so do I. I'd say he's fairly proud of me.

>Does your dad lift?

My dad has a bad back so no, he's still decently strong but he doesn't want to risk throwing his back out

Is your dad proud of your gains?

I'm still ottermode but my dad often comments on how strong I am when I'm helping him out

>Have you ever gone to the gym with your dad and what was that like?

I've offered to take my dad to the gym since he needs to do some exercises for his hip, he doesn't like the idea too much

Wat, every competitive judoka lifts weights in some form or another

No. My father was a fat fuck who, believing he would die at 45 because his father did, did nothing to correct his already failing health and instead chose to live a lifestyle that would guarantee his death.

Does your dad lift?

My dad played football and his legs are strong as fuck but that's pretty much it and he hasn't trained in over 20 years.

I have his genetics for back/legs and I have been working out for 3 years now.

>Is he proud of your gains?

Never asked him and I'm not doing this for anyone but myself. He did upload a couple of my pictures on facebook since I don't have a profile there, so that may count as being happy that I have made some gains and am not a weakling like in 8th grade ( I was under 60kgs then, now I'm 185cm tall and 90kgs )

>Have you even gone to the gym with your dad?

No, but I have done pullups with him and arm-wrestling when we are celebrating holidays in front of relatives ( It's normal for a 22 year old to beat a 55 year old )

Same.

Inevitably mine had a heart attack and just withered away, slowly rotting and ruining what few good memories I had of him.

He was proud of me though. Just not himself.

>Does your dad lift?

He played football 30 years ago and thinks it makes him the authority on fitness and healthcare.

>Is your dad proud of your gains?

He's not proud of anything I do.

>Have you ever gone to the gym with your dad and what was that like?

No. He's dying from diabetes and kidney failure due to his shit lifestyle the last 30+ years and being with a fat cunt who can't cook and drinks three 2liters of Coke a day while criticizing his children for not wanting to be around watching our father die while she takes all of his retirement and spends it on her 16 year old.

One of my motivations to get fit was so I could avoid the bullshit he's going through health wise. That fact I have higher standards in regards to women is a plus too.

 No.123171

My dad died in while I was uni. Not really clear why as he was having knee surgery. He worked self employed all his life doing stuff like buying houses and fixing them and selling or renting them after. Still he wasn't in good shape and neither am I. So many anons here, either lost their father or losing their father or want to lose their father. The glories of modern civilization boys, families no longer whole across the whole of our sad little world.

It is up to us now.

Nice post.

My father is a good guy. He's intelligent, hard working, and is likable by many. We came from poverty to well-to-do as I was growing up.

But I'm kind of a disappointment. I'm not married yet, don't have a good income, don't have family of my own. The only thing he's kind of proud of me for is the fact that I lost over 40 lbs. And it took me getting away from my independent environment to moving home so I can gain back control of my life.

But he's more of a sports guy and doesn't lift. And he has some weird ideas about nutrition. He thinks you are literally what you eat so he always discourages me from eating meat. He eats a ton of grains himself. Also he keeps telling me that I should stop doing whatever it is I'm doing and just go out for walks to get fit.

But my dad is still a good man. Like most dads, he's made a few mistakes, can be a prick, but meets the general requirements of being a decent dad. I wouldn't be the person I am today without him. And that's actually a good thing.

My father doesn't like how big I am read: not big at all, only ~1.75 years lifting so far or how much I can lift, I showed him a video of a 3pl8 deadlift one time and he got spooked and said I'll fuck up my back

Both him and my mother constantly tell me I'm big enough already and should avoid getting bigger, I hate it

my lifts aren't even impressive, 60kg ohp, 95kg bench, 132.5kgx5 squat, 155kgx5 deadlift, 100kg clean

He also asks me if I have a gf basically every time we speak and it makes me step closer to ending myself

He was to busy wasting all his money on whores(he even payed rent for one of his whores)

I would probably get him into exercising if he hadnt been burned to death on an accident
