F1 2015 season speculation/discussion thread. I feel Mercedes will dominate once more although Honda-Mclaren looks promising but the tests did not go so well. Also no more standing restart and double points

Agreed. McLaren chassis is also still crap.

Barring a major upheaval, I think they will continue as they are. I don't see the engine formula/unfreeze changing until 2016

Prediction : Nelson Piquet will make a unprecedented comeback in his new team "Copersucar Automotive." He will win everyrace, Hamilton's girlfriend, and insult Ayrton Senna at any possible moment. /r/formula1 will lose their collective shit. In all seriousness though, I don't see much changing in 2015. We'd more or less be exposed to the same results as last year. However, I do expect to see Lotus perform slightly better, given that they will not suffer from Renault reliability issues. Honestly I'm rooting for Alonso to win the WDC, even though I realize it is not one of the more likely outcomes.

>>867 How do you feel about the incessant marketing of this season as the power of German engineering? Especially when the team at Brackley was Matra>Tyrrell>British American Racing>Honda>Brawn, and only now Mercedes.
Neither the team that makes the chassis (Brackley) nor the team that makes the engine (Ilmor at Brixworth) is German. One was founded by a Briton with French funding, and the other was founded by a Briton and an Italian with American funding.

>>873 I've heard no one feel any bad will towards it being marketed as German manufacturing. Everyone is extremely proud of the engine they have made and are also proud that it is made here in Great Britain.
>>874 I've attached some identification here. It say's contractor but I've been here for a year and it's a pretty much long term thing.

Feel sorry for Honda with the engine rule loophole. Also is this the official place to go if moot is being an idiot and /f1/ is down?

>>1028 The loophole is silly, although it does make sense considering the current power units are homologated and grandfathered in with no time limit set to homologate for 2015. Agreed, shame for Honda.
This board is the official (possibly not in Bernie's eyes) home of Formula 1 on 8chan. 4chan is kill, and 8chan allows custom boards hence the reason we're here instead of just making f1 threads that 404 all the time on /sp/.
Yes, this is the official place.
In all seriousness though, I started this board after being frustrated with reddit.com/r/formula1 becoming the worst of reddit circlejerk and having terrible post quality, and because f1technical.net had obsessions with user seniority and hierarchy.
My hope is that the anonymity afforded by 8chan, the lack of a comment rating system, and the extremely lax rules will create a better quality of discussion for Formula 1 since there is no incentive to circlejerk.
Any and all constructive criticism is welcome. Invite your friends if you'd like so the off season isn't quite as boring.

>>1053 Wow, it's like you actually see the future. Haha, in all seriousness though, you're right look at how much the FRIC ban did to stop Mercedes (
http://www1.skysports.com/f1/news/24181/9385299/formula-1-drivers-in-the-dark-on-implications-of-fric-ban-for-the-german-gp ). Meanwhile it ruined whatever competitive advantage teams like Lotus had by way of having a well developed FRIC System (

>>1053 >Midseason rule change I'd kek if that wasn't shitty for the sport.
>>1056 The FRIC ban makes me rage. It was banned as a movable aerodynamic device, but its suspension that isn't even active, its passive and never encounters airflow. This is bullshit just like the tuned mass damper ban.

>>1053 >>1154 Quick abrupt changes are not the smartest in terms of safety(and no, I do not consider myself one of those feels-induced brazilians who throw tantrums in the name of safer vehicles post-Senna's death.) 2 Weeks(?) before the beginning of the 1994 season, the FIA banned most in-car electronics. I don't know about you guys, but to remove features which were so integral those years' cars probably attributed to the lives lost at San Marino.
