aa2d6a No.38

1956 European Grand Prix (Monza). In an action-packed conclusion to the 1956 Formula One season, Stirling Moss, generally considered the best driver without a WDC (Enzo Ferrari called him the most complete driver he had ever known), nearly clinches the World Drivers Championship.

Juan Manuel Fangio has a mechanical retirement, and Peter Collins gives up on his shot at the title, allowing Fangio to take over his car and win the Championship.

Oh man, if we ever enter a new era of F1 where banked turns like that are allowed…

I wish that these oval and roval tracks could come back. I am especially a fan of the organically designed tracks like Dijon-Prenois that make the contours of the earth their elevation change and undulation. In that, there is far more complexity than in "overtaking spots", hairpins after long straightaways, chicanes every 5 feet, and DRS zones.
