What are your opinions of Nelson Piquet?

I will be terse, I believe he is plenty more skilled on the racetrack than Nigell Mansell, and is by far one of the most technically proficient drivers around during the 80s. Many other fans (particularly younger, newer ones) have taken a dislike to him for his upfront, combative, "no bullshit" attitude. I honestly find it refreshing. We will never see an F1 driver ever again get away with flipping off another driver, let alone tease the head of the FIA.

What do you guys think?

Hasn't lost any entertainment value and I've seen it many times. I think Piquet had a very special combination of natural and technical skill and is certainly among the greats.

Piquet is underrated because he missed out on winning the championship in 1986 (when he had to pit in Australia due to team orders after mansells tire explosion), and because he's the wrong Brazilian 3 time world champion.
