Why do zoomers fall for this shit? He is selling nothing. The core problem is that I have no reason to improve my life and I don't see myself as so important that I can do it solely for myself. I won't even do it for woman, why would I? Just to bring another kid to meaningless existence? The war is lost. Good old times are not coming back.

They know something's fucked up, and have a vague idea that traditionalism is 'good'. But they don't have the courage to ask radical questions, and are tied up to this notion of suburban civility.
> Good old times are not coming back.
doesn't stop people from uselessly longing for them. In fact, acknowledging them as 'good' is in itself a barely-tolerated thoughtcrime. It's just edgy enough for the IDW brand.

The alt-right is mostly Xennials (late Gen X and early Millennials born 1970 - 1990).
But the people who listen to him think that young men are/should be eternal optimist-soldiers that can or should magically fix the world, that all they need to do is "clean up." Ironically, most folks over 30 have messy and disorganized houses and dont take care of themselves either but they use the age card. Society sees males from twelve to forty as expendable workhorses to be used, abused, and vullied "to toughen them up/keep them in place" while women and older people flop about.

Peterson's core audience are the people between the "I know something is not right" and the "there's no solving this", pretty much the same position as he is himself. He will obviously not go full nihilist, that is just not his philosophical position on things. Some people see no point on drenching thenselves in filth, desesperation, and self hatred, and actually try to fight back the lost war.
I don't agree with then on a rational stand point, I throughly believe things are going downhill and will not go up in my lifetime, but still, I admire their willpower and positive thinking.

No such thing as perfect systems, your fairy tale state business is even more prone to fail then democratic republic will ever ever be, just like any system that expects people to behave and cooperate. People that believe that ANY form of new state management will solve anything have as much credibility as a little girl saying that hugs and rainbow colored poneys are the answer to world's problems.
The problem is not the system, but humanity itself, literally anything, even lack of state would work if everyone were brainless robots who just follows self imposed rules like if they were unbreakable. Big state, small state, authoritarism, democracy, everything fails eventually and give place to another system, with hundreds of years of chaos in between.

we've reached the stage in wich surviving is good enough, we will slave away our lives just for a few hours of the sweet sweet placevo called escapism, even if the dopamine shot we get from it gets weaker and weaker every time
monotonoy is boring but it's also safe. We have so little but can lose so much if we dare try to escape but fail to do so, and even if we succed and don't fall even deeper that we alrready are, the rewards we can get aren't even worth it, there is nothing but an even harsher road ahead with smaller and smaller rewards at every checkpoint, the juice is simply no worth the squeeze

ZIzek has a doctorate in Philosophy and Psychoanalysis. Peterson has a doctorate in Psychology. This debate is meaningless except for the fact that it brutally exposes Peterson's tremendous shortcomings in the realm of Political Philosophy (HE's only fucking read the Communist Manifesto???? I have heard Peterson spout about one's responsibility to their family and community is a reason to live but this is ignorant of the fact that many of us are completely alienated from our families and the community at large. He buries his head in this fossil age mentality of how things used to be before every thing got fucked. Naturally the boomer take is to get acquainted with your community or to connect with one's family.
The former may be simple for some middle class commoner born to be a shill but presuming most of us here have at least some radical ideas and aren't just looking to fit in, we are confronted with questioning our own truths, which isn't as easy as "get over it" because haha bitch an identity crisis isn't fun, plus common pleb tier ideology is what brought us to the precipice anyway. just follow the status quo dont worry they are just going over the edge… yeah sure.
The latter presumes a bunch of families dont hate each other. they don't want to get along, have terrible pasts, too much stress and shit. Then you have to consider eh maybe mom doesn't want to put in as much effort as you. Or maybe you do have a perfect family life, and I'm not a therapist so I can't psycho analyze all this shit, but that can sometimes be the ticking time bomb right there.
now for the curve ball; fundamentally, he is right, at least based on thousands of years of traditions. but those traditions are burning in the hellfire of our times and its not an easy burden to put that shit out. people are trying and failing everywhere. so fuck it thanks for the memes peterson but you aren't going to save the sinking ship by telling us to clean our room.

Perhaps the world will start to get along when the apocalypse makes us as rare as we used to be.
200k years ago, we got along so well that we survived an ice age that killed the strongest sentient species on Earth, Neanderthal.
We were far inferior to neanderthal for such weather, but we had larger tribes and long-distance trade.
But now, we're degenerate shells of that. We are probably due for another culling.

That's why I like it. I don't think he was ever in situation where he would have to defend his comments regarding philosophy in front of opponent who knows how to argue and knows what he is talking about. He rekt himself because not only he has shortcomings when it comes to argumentation in this field, not only he was poorly prepared but he entered the lion's den the very moment he accepted to be on stage with eastern European, because here in east we are masters in debating people, because every family or friends meeting ends up as heated political, economic, sociological and philosophical debate (classic funny stereotype, applies mainly to slavs). I mean, it could be expected that Slavoj will take over the debate as he always does. His opening speech was classic example of what I mean - he mentioned everything, starting with china, mentioned hitler (try talking with eastern european for 10 minutes without him mentioning hitler) and finished with climate issues and dangers of technology. It was funny but I'm glad people could see Peterson is not really confident in this topic as his followers thought he was.

You know what?
We used to have hundreds of disparate kinds of "internet crazy", which is a terrible, degrading term for what is in reality a precious resource: schools of thought that don't default to ITS DA JOOZ or ITS DA CAPITALISTS.
Then economies of scale happened, and every "get a load of this" shitsite/drama site since about 2004 realized that, whether or not there was anything worth examining- factually or poetically- in exotic belief systems, you could get more utility by instead mocking them from a position of smug superiority. (And, of course, the only sufficient hyperstimulus for superiority/"reasonable educated person" turned out to be academic communism, which is another story.)
This means that the main way people hear about cranks, in 2019, is via weird hateful sociopaths mocking them. Which means that people refrain from sharing their wacky theories, because they'd rather not be subjected to that shit, and that existing wacky theories get starved of brainpower, because anyone with half a clue avoids them.
And both these consequences hold true unless the wacky theory has a posse that's capable of generating a reality distortion field contrary to the trolls' own, in which case the adherents try to recreate the "position of smug superiority" on their own turf- progressively crappier vampire castles, from the main one in Brooklyn all the way down to @evolagroyper69's little cottage.
But, as it turns out, getting a posse is easier if you just add an existing megagroup's belief stew as a dependency. So we have "lizard people (but also/mostly jooz)" and "transhuman superintelligence from the future (smash capitalism!!)". Which is great for creating thousands of flavors of the same awful garbage, but bad for creating anything that doesn't have the same shit wrong with it as everything else.
Back to what you're doing, though. You saw a guy talking about a thing, and you decided that a good way to "own" him was to refer to him as if he were (one of) the originators of the thing. You personalized it. This is an Alynskyite tactic, and it works by making the target look smaller and therefore dumber (the implication being that obviously it's too absurd for anyone but the founders to have adopted it). You probably don't understand that this is what you did (these tactics are "in the water", which shows that we are well and truly fucked).
Your reward for this is that people will stop talking about melon misdeeds and roll what's meant by "melons" over into "jooz", thereby destroying any useful meaning the term might've had and enlisting a few more people into the eternal war between Skinhead Mouthbreathers and Commie Scum.

I unironically like my enemies more than amiguous shitheads who pretend they know everything. Like you said, mocking people from a position of smug superiority. It seems that, when meeting good-willed people, the ones who are willing to cling to extreme beliefs are more often than not willing to hear my point of view, no matter how much i disagree with them.
Still, society increasingly being polarized between hating jews and hating capitalism is good for me, as i am a literal communist. I loathe centrist superiority complexes as they have nothing to contribute of their own, and instead choose to attack others. It's entirely destructive, with no new ideas being created. It's a good thing that people are coming to an understanding that such mainstream mockery is not contributing anything to progress, and polarizing themselves because of this. It's always a particular feeling of schadenfreude when an impotent centrist watches and cries as everyone around him fights and argues - to me, it's the greatest feeling in the world, watching the embodiment of the status quo sit in a cuckshed and watch ideological chads have their way with his economy. Pic related is much more than a simple meme to me.

You can find 'poetic interest' in weird/fringe theories even when you're skeptical of its claims. I am fascinated by melonhead theories because I see it as Scientology for incels, with obvious folkloric value.
I can remember when academic and literary circles used to have a "cognitive safe space" for weirdos where the temptation to mock them was suspended in favor of good-faith analysis. Needless to say, the last few years have not been kind to this practice.

Well, I mean, the guy we were talking about is married, so "incels" isn't really right, is it?
Actually, that whole description is kind of off. Scientology is a bunch of timeworn cult technology, slapped together by a science fiction author. Because it's a cult made of bits of other cults, one of its central premises is that anyone can achieve salvation (i.e. the cult can and should have maximum reach and seek maximum growth), therefore all non-cultists are living in a state of degradation.
Thal theory is essentially the opposite: whether or not you're "saved" (except 'salvation' isn't the correct term; various adjacencies have nice things to say about almost every kind of balloonhead) is due to shit that happened thousands of years ago, and it's neither your fault nor something you can do anything about. It's not even really Calvinist- you can tell if someone's elect by looking at the shape of their head. It doesn't require $50 and an e-meter reading.

People often do this dumb thing where they see ideology/theory and they take stance "all or nothing", or in other words, you have to agree with it 100% or 0%. No wonder no one can agree about anything. The present is crazy and future will be even more and some ideologies/theories which were seen as insane sci-fi decade or two ago are now slightly more relevant, good example of this might be probably transhumanism but also many of those "conspiracy theories". Of course if you are interested in academia, you will gain this approach of rather taking concepts, points, and not whole ideology as whole. Then you will get different tags because people don't know where to put you.

Do you remember by any chance that girl I spoke about once or twice, how she has nothing in life but work? She works like a slave. Not hard job, not bad job but she has nothing else in life so she works works works. Man it's getting pretty downhill with her fast, don't want to go into much details. The tl;dr is that sometimes you are stuck in between, and a lot of people are - in position where you don't understand how things work around you, you just sense something isn't right, you are stuck in this position, blaming yourself. Sometimes it's not so black and white issue, a lot people don't know about the core essence of nigger existence and yet they are not cattle either, they just have no clue how to get answers. You can lie to those people and try to "save them" for their own good but they will normalize, you can tell them how things really are and they will maybe definitely off themselves over time or you can let them be in their misery and play stupid while watch them suffer. There is no good outcome, just none. And by doing this you are sort of playing for God, which is also disgusting. Sounded more like a well learned member of a field talking to a young and unlearned and unread albeit bright and eager acolyte, was not a good look on peterson and the image he has tried to cultivate for himself but there were some interesting points in the talk anyways. What i found fascinating was when Z was talking about the atheism inherent in new testament christianity in regards too '"Eli Eli lama sabachthani?", something i'd like to read more about, personally.

I remember this one Tom Cruise movie. It was about some soldiers in Guantanamo who did a crime and Tom Cruise is the lawyer / prosecutor who needs to find out what happened. The bad guy was this guy that had the role of Hannibal Lector in Silence of Lambs. He played a military hothead. The scene in the courtroom was very interesting:
>I WANT THE TRUTH
<YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH
this was a very powerful scene that I still remember today
Sometimes not knowing is a luxury
But instead of feeding her nasty truths, how about asking her if she can even handle the truth at all

This picture really reveals what the average Jordan Peterson fan is like. Either had no father or a father that was no good. No religious influences or the only ones they knew were batshit. They were told to go into STEM or they were failures at life. Owning the SJWs is their hobby.
In comes Jordan Peterson, their perfect father figure. He tells them common sense shit that no one has told them before, like cleaning your room. No wonder he's popular.

Personally I became a national socialist/esoteric hitlerist, if anything has kept me fro an hero, it was that. You ought to try it, hating disliking all other races isn't so bad once you realize that the qt women will be safe and nips will be your friend.
Basically under national socialism everything that has caused you problems in life will be gassed go away.

><Fanatical self improvement!
This is actually a very valid point, you can only devote so much time and effort, you can only improve so much, eventually there is nothing more to do, or what there is simply isn't worth your labor. While I applaud /sig/, they need to see that there are limits, you cannot become a perfect person, especially if you weren't in the position to become one in the first place.
Their problem is that they are trying to fix a broken man, when he was supposed to be a strong child. They are trying to work around a dying society, instead of embracing the coming age.
The ills that plague man, that have caused these phenomena and issues, will be present no more. Have faith friends.

No matter how many tuning parts you screw onto a Fiat, it will never magically become a Ferrari.
Same goes for people. Most people are not exceptional at all. Only maybe 15% of them are indeed.
And the problem today is that everyone wants a Ferrari and nobody will want a Fiat because everyone thinks they are a special snowflake who deserve only the best because mommy and daddy told them so

>Either had no father or a father that was no good.
If that's the case, I ought to be a total fanboy of his - my father might as well have not even been there and to this day I don't even know why he bothered. Hell, at least my mother was honest enough to tell me to my face she wished she never had me, but whenever he was busy quitting jobs that ALWAYS seemed to "screw him over," he just seemed to be in his own little world. He was adopted, and he never spoke much of his adopted parents, even claiming he lived on the streets for a while at one point before me - if he was that age today, I'm sure he'd have bought into JP's schtick.
>In comes Jordan Peterson, their perfect father figure. He tells them common sense shit that no one has told them before, like cleaning your room. No wonder he's popular.
I've said this about all the "movements" we see today. Literally everything wrong in society today can ultimately be traced to the disintegration of the nuclear family - if you can't trust your own parents to guide you, you'll trust anybody who seems like they can, even if it's to your own detriment. Parents these days just plop their kids down in front of the television or the computer and call it a day to the point it makes you wonder why they even bother having kids - I go on buy/sell sites and I see single moms of three+ kids begging for food and furniture and I'm like seriously? Those kids are basically dead ends before they've even had the chance to live. It's not fair, anons.

That's my father in a nutshell in the very rare moments he actually tries to talk to me - just think positively, anon! Sure, it hasn't worked for my debt-ridden cuckold (my mother got pumped and dumped by some coworker) ass, but it'll work for you! When he isn't vegetating in front of the TV watching Netflix, this is all he can muster. He literally blew my entire childhood onward doing nothing in regards to raising me, giving me advice, etc and now he thinks this cliche shit will make up for all the neglect.
Pardon my rambling, but I have nobody to talk to other than my cat and I need to vent.

>Failure after failure but normies cannot keep their legs closed and holy shit their desire for junior to "become someone" is immense.
That's so true, anon, but in my case, the problem was that my parents were woefully underequipped to even raise themselves, much less children. I even asked my mother why she even bothered having me, and she couldn't even tell me why. She could tell me she wished she never did have me, but she couldn't even give me a BS reason for why they did. They just had me for no real reason, and I reckon that's why I'm here talking to you right now. I used to be the only kid I knew (so I thought) that wanted my parents to get divorced, just to get some peace and quiet for a change.
>ayo niggas, lil johnny is in teevee >das my son in the metaphoric sense
Exactly, but when they discover that having kids isn't the Hallmark movie experience they expected, they either just flat out neglect the kids or beat the shit out of them. In my experience, my father just dished out verbal abuse to me - he'd beat the shit out of my mother before he suddenly found religion (Buddhism), which I still think was his subtle attempt to bond with me because he knew I was into history and shit. But, as I said, he can't make up for all those years of neglect. Hell, he used to bitch about how my mother never took pictures of me growing up as a kid, never put pictures up on the walls, always ranting about how one day, I'm gonna have kids of my own and they won't have anything of me to go by if I die or some shit on 'em, and yet he never once showed the initiative to do it himself. So I literally have no pictures of myself to look back on. I have a few baby pictures, but everything after that's basically like I just slept through it all and woke up an adult. I never got to do anything anyway, because we were always "too poor" to do anything (but mommy needs her smokes, anon). When I tried to make friends, they weren't allowed to sleepover (mommy doesn't want it, sorry, anon), and we gradually drifted apart (because apparently I wasn't allowed to visit them either - their parents didn't mine, but mine did because reasons). I remember when we got our first pet, a cat (not my current one that I mentioned earlier) and my father bitched the entire time home from the shelter because the one HE wanted wasn't the one we picked, nevermind that he had said that it was MY choice.
It's honestly a shock to me that I didn't just end it all years ago, it really is. I know I'm not perfect, I've fucked up several times (usually because I figured shit, if nobody cares, why the fuck should I?) but my God, anon, I'm at the point now where I WISH I was a fucking normalfag just so I didn't feel like such shit all the time.

Honestly, I don't understand how I could go through teenage years withough being openly depressed and suicidal. It was only in my mid 20s when I reached that new low but interestingly I had this bliss called ignorance or some other coping mechanism.

I forgot to add that my father literally abused the cat I picked (he didn't beat the cat or anything, but basically turned this really cute, docile creature into a hissing menace who hated anyone who went near it) as if to get back at me. He just had to be the vindictive little fuck he was. That leads me to what I said about just ending it years ago - I mean, I had more than ample opportunities to do so, and it's not like my parents/brother would've cared - my brother would've just taken all my shit and my parents would've been like well, thank God THAT's over. This is the only family I have, mind you - the only extended family I have is:
>my maternal grandmother whose guts my mother hates so much that she never let us even talk to her
>my hikki aunt who was a NEET before the term even got popular
>my maternal uncle who I don't even know at all because my mother never once mentioned him period.
My father was adopted, and I know nothing about his real/adopted parents whatsoever. So I was basically alone my entire childhood/adolescence, with nobody to depend on. I used to think school was fucking boring, and believe me it was, but at least there I felt happy because I didn't have problems making friends - it was just keeping them interested in me that was the problem; it doesn't help when your father will latch onto one of them:
>anon, why can't you be more like your best friend? Sure, he's got parents who actually care, who can afford to give him a real childhood, who live in an actually decent part of town and whose siblings aren't total demotivational losers, but why can't you just be more like him?
It grew to the point I actually had to sever ties with my own best friend, a really good guy by all accounts, just so I wouldn't have to hear that shit anymore. Fun fact, my brother was, of course, allowed to have HIS friends over all the time (he'd throw huge tantrums until my parents said yes, all the while not allowing mine to come over). Whenever mine got to come, on those once in a blue moon occassions, he'd try to keep them away from me, luring them to spend time with him over me. He lost touch with all his friends, though, because he was usually a total asshole to them.
>Being a normalfag must be the greatest bliss in todays rotten world. to just go about your life and be happy because crapple releases a new phone or hollywood makes a new marvel movie. Or you know, just not thinking about those nasty things in life
Exactly. I've always taken the proverbial black pill, but I'd do anything to find the bluest pill I could find just to finally feel some inner peace. I literally can't relate to a single goddamn thing these days, I really can't. The only thing that gets me through the day is that the sports teams I cheer for are decent enough that I can say yeah, I'm a fan of winners.
>tfw the highlight of your poor pathetic childhood is watching millionaires playing for billionaires win some such trophy.
I know, sports, they're normiefag central, but watching them were all I had going for me as a kid. I'd probably be a lot worse off if i didn't have them or if I had ended up cheering for teams that were total fucking losers.

I usually end up diving deeper, getting into the pre-Socratics and stuff like Althusser/Novatore/Stirner/Junger/Spengler and even people like Linkola. Peterson's greatest crime is the discharacterization of post-modern philosophers and of critique in general. Many of the sources he cites when criticizing post-modernism are either incorrect or do not exist at all.
It is extremely useful to understand and critique culture in the context of the post-modern condition: the absence of historical metanarratives, the prevalence of simulacra--copies without originals–the dominance of sign-value over all other forms of value. Baudrillard is probably the most doomer post-modernist, who eventually broke away from Marxism anyway.
