Most of us just read history and feel a connection to the men, their deeds, and the way they lived. I think the bigger problem is people only having a superficial understanding of their roots because our parents and grandparents proudly replaced tradition with material consumption. This might be easier for me to say though since I've got a homogenous ethnic background. If you are a mix of 6 different Europeans and your parents never bothered to synthesize that background into a coherent tradition then you're left to pick up the pieces. In that case I'd say it's better anyways to keep a broader pride in every aspect of your background. After all you are still distinctly European and can draw from a wealth of western culture and build upon it. Plus America has its own grand tradition of more than 400 years, even if only the first half was good.

I'm now 15K in debt, missing 3 years of my life that went to being a hikkimori, with a college degree that doesn't help me get any jobs and my best career path is to join the Air Force because going back to school is financially irresponsible (even community college, no way in Hell am I doing night classes after work), and I've probably lost a good few years of my health by ballooning up in weight, and even if get skinny I'll probably still have a heart attack because of hard plaque now from my fat days, and I want to get cosmetic surgeries except they cost a lot and I'm 24 and I wonder if it isn't already kind of too late to looksmaxx now, and the worst part is that I feel like an 18 year old kid who was robbed of his youth-defining summer, and I don't have the maturity to put up with my life now.

The only thing keeping me from eating a 9mm is the fact that the absolute nothingness of death is more terrifying than any Hell humans can imagine.
