Actually I met both irl and online mostly south koreans and that's source of my experience. I can't recommend, in best case scenario you get equivalent of "regular white chick" but otherwise they are very materialistic and even more obsessed about their looks than our girls are, and that's about it. I can sympathise, I have been into anime for nearly a decade now but I have always avoided interaction with other people who watch it. On one hand, I genuinely don't get how talking about anime and other Japanese media is that fun because the whole enjoyment is derived from just watching it. Studios didn't particularly need computers in the 90s, as most everything was done with analog methods, but they did have computers. Computerization has made anime production cheaper and more efficient, but it's not like anyone can now start making 12-26 episode shows and finish on time. $250k is what it might cost to make a single episode.
