Anyway I don't know man, didn't Gen X started with certain degree of nihilism in popular subculture? I mean, it's not such a new thing after all, is it? I guess dark stuff gets more popular, same as subcultures and styles but it's hard to tell if people are just liking the trend (like this re-birth of goth fashion) or they mean it seriously with some ideological principles behind it, whatever. Even this new wave of rap is just basically about drugs, depression, crime and ass. Culture often reflects the society, it applies more so if your culture is based 100% on trending stuff, trying to appeal masses. I don't believe it will the main cause of final downfall though, we have bigger problems coming but I hope zoomers will help crashing the economy by ghosting boomer employers and corporations.

People say us Millenials are genetic dead ends but the Zoomers are in a much worse situation than we are:

at least for us there were a few of us who got luck and found a job before 2009 or right after the recession but before the automation mania kicked in.
For zoomers, they will have so much trouble finding any type of work. Even cashiers are now being automated away. Even McDonalds will automate away burger flippers.
And for Generation Alpha, I don't know. Those are the kids born after the Zoomers (2010 and later). I feel like they will become a generation of complete sexual deviants. this is where doomerism or lack thereof comes into play. Kids are raised by the media these days and it's designed to give you the illusion of happiness. To adress the OP: doomers won't become a significant subculture as long as the media doesn't tell the people it is and since they have to provide a happy go lucky world in which everyone's a winner for their system to work, I doubt that this will happen.
You need a sense of self reflection to admit to yourself that you're a loser/commoner and in this world full of special people, barely anyone wants to admit that
