What's your ideal doomer living space?
For me, it's either
>a warehouse in an industrial part of town, especially if waterfront
>an old/abandoned/former railway station
>something like the Paper St. house in Fight Club
>wild card: an old lighthouse
Basically old industrial spaces with no neighbors and grey skies
Of course it would need some cleaning up, but once the risk of tetanus is gone, could be a cozy living space. Bonus points if in a snowy/foggy area.

A cold, snowy place, hot temperatures make your brain all retarded, it's a well known fact. Honestly i wouldn't mind a small house with a single floor, only one bathroom with a shower inside too, a small bedroom for me only, a kitchen, a living room and at least a place to stuff extra stuff. A simple manual work where i can feel like i'm doing something for society, a job that pays me enough to feed myself and have simple joys every now and then.

I've always daydreamed about living in a small cabin out in the woods in Maine or some small town in rural England but I also know if I did so alone I would end up massively depressed and kill myself most likely. If you are somewhat intelligent and think too much you will go insane trapped alone in your head all day. This is why Hikki's and NEET's become so mentally ill

i fucking love cities, plan on moving to one once i get enough fucking money. solitude is found in the best way in cities, there is no time for "getting to know someone" or stupid chat in a city. people are in a hurry. you fade into the background and nobody notices you. i love that. i crave that, i am 6'5 and have been taller than the average mans height since i was ten, so i always stood out, it would be so nice to blend in and not have any attention drawn towards me.

A small apartment in Tokyo.
Small for the /comfy/ factor and because nobody can afford a big apartment in Tokyo, Tokyo because there's no more isolated living space than in a megacity and the Japanese have strong cultural norms against bothering strangers.
Living in the countryside is hell. Everyone wants to know about you, and they really don't like people that are different.

This is a myth. Your "neighbors" might not even care about you that much but if you move to village there is always that 1 boomer wife who will bake for you something good and her husband who is always willing to help you with something getting done. Depends on density of that area. Just be nice, man. They might give you a rabbit meat because they have too much, so give them something back. You might know this widow down the road who said you once she don't have fish on christmas because she can't kill and process fish, so do it for her and she will bake you some tasty shit and offer you booze. If your first neighbor lives 1 km down the road, you won't meet that much. You don't have to blackpill everyone you meet in your life duh.

I want to get rich enough to build a large, tall, gothic castle somewhere in the middle of the ocean, far away from governments and nosy leftists who want to fuck with me.
It will be full of beautiful gardens, creepy statues, and cool places to explore and chill at. It will contain a mixture of antique and modern technology because it's cool and I don't want to burn fuel to keep the lights on. I will also lease out sections of it to people who want to move in, because I don't really need all of it to myself, too much loneliness will kill me and a mini economy for trade and some self-sufficiency would be great.

I totally understand you, however it's not like debt, it's just matter of being polite. I'm weirdo living in village now and I never had problem like somebody would talk shit about me and you will get bad news since in small place like that, you will know everything. Cities are more "secure" in this matter but that alienation is sometimes terrible. Your mentality sort of changes when you move outside of the city, after all we are all just people.

Only a faggot townie believes this.
Most country folk have no problem with people who keep to themselves as long as they aren't a prick. I keep to myself and live an isolated life by choice, but I always say good morning or wave as I pass by people. They do the same back and maybe once a year a favour is asked (I'm going on holiday, could you keep an eye on the house as you walk past please?)
The problem townies have with the countryside is they expect it to be like a town and it isn't. You have to completely change your mentality and townies are too dead inside to do it. They want to know no one around them instead of having a community. And no a community doesn't mean masturbating into the local dance punch, it's saying hi and knowing if shit hits the fan you have back up. You don't even know any ones names except those who live closest to you but you know if a favour is asked it would be done.

Works the same way though. If your neighbor gives you cookies, you can hardly tell her to fuck off when it comes to killing fish. It's not explicit, but the implication is definitely there.

The problem with a castle isn't so much the purchase price as the maintenance. You can expect to constantly have mold somewhere if you introduce modern heating or windows, and there'll always be some roof that needs replacing.
And keep in mind that European countries tend to not just let you do whatever the fuck you want with your castle either. You'll need to use medieval methods that barely any craftsmen know and any change will have to be approved by a team of experts, which you'll be expected to pay.
Best way would probably be to keep it medieval and live in the lord's chamber that's heated with the wood fireplace, with the well getting an electric pump (and an electric water heater with a shower attached in a wooden impermanent cabin next to it), and make do with a generator in the courtyard for charging your laptop and keeping an internet connection per WLAN.

>heating
I watched on television how this one guy bought a castle. A rather small one. The heating bill ruined him financially and he had to turn off the heating completely for the main building and move into the barn like building on his estate. Imagine having to heat 30 rooms because the heating system is 80 years old and you have only 1 main switch to turn on or off everything at once and on top of that the shit being old and used up makes it inefficient and lots of the warmth is lost in the pipes already and the rest through bad walls insulation.
In summer it would be comfy though.

Exactly.
>government interference
>outdated construction
It's better to just build your own castle and design it however you want. Here in Russia, if you do it somewhere really far off in Sibera, the government is too poor to spend resources checking up on every anti-social misanthrope living innawoods, so you could even torture commies in your dungeon for all they know.

Yea, you're right about this, though i'm sure that if you found a poor/corrupt enough country you could skirt the listed building requirements, at least if it looks okay aesthetically.

Then I might just solve heating with wood and a fireplace. I would be down with only heating my bedroom, the kitchen when I eat there and the meeting room when we have a /doomer/ meetup. If I have money for a whole castle, buying wood in large numbers (or even outright cutting it myself) shouldn't be a problem.

Not really.
You need an operating system for everyday tasks, you need an operating system for kinda-illegal stuff, and you need an operating system for the-van-is-on-the-way stuff, ideally on different computers in case you want to listen to music while ordering weed while hacking the CIA.
That, naturally, means a minimum of three monitors, three towers, and three keyboards (unless you use a wireless keyboard and can therefore move it easily between monitors).
Add to that a couple of SBC/SoCs, microcontrollers, sensors, breadboards, wires, more wires, connectors, a couple backup connectors, old hardware you saved in case you ever needed to build another machine, soldering kit, oscilloscope, multimeter, all the wires for networking (you aren't using WiFi, are you?), a couple SBCs with cases for taking out of the house to ensure you never have to use another person's system, maybe a small monitor and keyboard for taking along with it since modern laptops are shit, and an old Thinkpad that you've wanted to restore for the last five years but never found the time.
