Everyone is talking about 5G and the cancer it will cause. But no one is talking about the logical next step, the 6G system that will be implemented in the next few decades to follow it. It is scary. So scary, it is enough to bring you to full-Unabomber status

>scary

but why. i have yet to see reasons behind the hype

5g was beta tested in several major US cities last year, all ti does is make fiber speed internet available anywhere, at the expense of having micro-towers all over the place.

THe /cyber/ view on it is

>faster interwebs everywhere

>better means to track devices

nobody thinks about the infrastructure though, you literally have to position that shit like CCTV cameras all over the place, which means that unlike cell towers which take reasonable effort to fuck with, you will have a larger number of devices with probably easier access all around.

Imagine if someone climbs onto a building, links into a relay, then bulk downloads everyone's data… 6G might not even be needed for any speed reason, but will probably be needed for security

I wasn't talking about 5G, I was talking about the inevitable 6G. Perhaps I should have put "Vid related" into my OP. The video, an episode of The Outer Limits, is how I perceive 6G will be.

5G honeypots when?

You can already do this with a SDR and osmocomBB or similar cell band packet analyzer. However, security steps have been implemented on ARM devices incorporating a hardware defined RSA layer that encrypts information end to end.

best summary of IMT-2020 (5G) I've read yet

I remember watching talks on hacking SS7 that ended with:

>LTE moves from SS7 -> Diameter

>most of this is still a problem in Diameter

do IMT-2020 systems actually fix that? or is it just more Diameter?

Maybe "6G" will actually fix that.

Nice; for comparison, here is an actual 6G promo video.

What a weird future we're heading for where owning your own car or a computer beyond a dumb terminal is 'rebellious'.
