Well, in reality Dr. Sivana has four children: Magnificus, Beautia, Thaddeus Jr., and Georgia. Magnificus and Beautia take after their mother, and Thaddeus Jr. and Georgia take after their father.

As King Sivana declares murder, crime, and torture legal and makes it law that all policemen must be thrown from cliffs, Captain Marvel puts an end to world peace! Dr. Sivana's rule is over, but Captain Marvel makes sure that Sivana's punishment isn't turned over to mob rule!

Another MIGHTIEST MORTAL MONDAY and more CAPTAIN MARVEL!

Starting out, we're getting Captain Marvel vs. The curse of IBAC (published in Captain Marvel Adventures #8, March 1942)! Just as Billy Batson was given the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the endurance of Atlas, the power of Zeus'', the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury by the wizard Shazam, so too is the criminal runt Stinky Printwhistle given his own magic spell by LUCIFER, THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS!

This magic word gives Printwhistle the powers of histories most evil men! The terror of Ivan the Terrible! The cunning of Cesare Borgia! The fierceness of Attila the Hun! The cruelty of Caligula! All summoned with a single word …

Captain Marvel punches IBAC so fucking hard that all of the evil men that make up his name explode out of Stinky Printwhistle and high-tail it out of there.

It's another MIGHTIEST MORTAL MONDAY! Today we're going to read the first and last appearance of BLACK ADAM in Marvel Family Comics #1 (December 1945, written by Otto Binder and drawn by C.C. Beck).

But first, a quick recap so everyone is up to speed with Captain Marvel and Captain Marvel Jr.

Black Adam returns to earth after flying through space for 5000 years! The sheer hate powering Black Adam is incredible!

Billy Batson transforms into Captain Marvel to stop Black Adam from assaulting innocent citizens, and a battle ensues! Will they be punching each other through buildings?! Will Captain Marvel have to use every ounce of his strength in an epic fight to end Black Adam's reign of terror?!

Of course not. That's stupid. Captain Marvel and Black Adam are both invincible, so their blows have no effect on each other. Faced with this reality, Black Adam escapes to rethink his plans for world conquest.

The wizard Shazam tells Billy the story of Black Adam, or "Why I Entrust my Awesome Powers to Children instead of Adults"! It turns out giving amazing powers to adults only leads them to using the powers for their own selfish ends! For that, Shazam sent Black Adam to the farthest star in the universe! Even the wizard Shazam is amazed Black Adam managed to make it back!

Too bad that Black Adam managed to follow Billy Batson and Freddy Freeman to Shazam's lair! With Billy and Freddy gagged, that leaves only Mary Marvel and Uncle Marvel to defeat the evil of Black Adam!

In the end, Black Adam isn't defeated by Captain Marvel, Marvel Jr. or Mary Marvel! Instead, he's defeated by a fat, bumbling old man struggling to remember the name "Shazam"! With the loss of his powers, the past 5000 years catches up to him and Black Adam is reduced to a disintegrating corpse!

Leave it to DC to bring back Black Adam just to fight Captain Marvel, despite the fact his introduction clearly showed that was impossible.

If they wanted someone to physically fight Captain Marvel, that would be Mr. Atom, Captain Marvel's strongest and most terrifying foe. He's the only villain that proved to be a physical match for the world's mightiest mortal, and the only villain he could never truly defeat.

So I'm going to story-time his first appearance, in Captain Marvel Adventures #78 (November, 1947. Written by William Woolfolk with art by C.C. Beck)! Writers today think of Mr. Atom as a robot, but they're wrong! He is no mere robot! In him surges the invincible power of the universe! He is Mr. Atom!

With the incredible power of the atom, Mr. Atom concludes that he is not destined for a life of inglorious serfdom! His destiny is to rule! He makes his way to the United Nations!

And it is there Captain Marvel encounters a power as great as his own!

Mr. Atom's power is so great that he literally punches Captain Marvel out of the building and into the atmosphere! It seems that the world's mightiest mortal has met his match against the power of the atom!

With the world in terror of Mr. Atom's power, Bill Batson attempts to assure the public by issuing a warning on behalf of his alter-ego Captain Marvel! If Mr. Atom makes one false move and Captain Marvel will make him wish he was never born!

Within the hour a message arrives for immediate broadcast! Mr. Atom accepts Captain Marvel's challenge! Mr. Atom does not fear the world's mightiest mortal, and none of earth's weapons can harm him! Can Captain Marvel come out victorious in the most important battle of his career?! A battle that that even Captain Marvel is unsure of the outcome?!

Captain Marvel manages to edge out Mr. Atom with one final blow and is able to imprison him!

Now we get to why I consider Mr. Atom is the most terrifying of Captain Marvel's foes. Captain Marvel could not destroy Mr. Atom. Like the atom that gave him life, Mr. Atom will exist forever. Though he's chained to the floor of an impregnable prison, humanity will never be free from the dread that is Mr. Atom.

Which is fitting for an obvious allegory for the atomic bomb. No matter our safe-guards, the threat remains.
