>Road to Watchmen: Rorschach & Nite Owl

>Written by Steve Ditko

>Hardcover DC Comics 20 oz

>On sale Nov 05, 2019 | 400 Pages | 978-1-4012-9889-0

>With a new HBO Watchmen series coming soon, DC collects some of the best stories starring the heroes that inspired the cast of the original WATCHMEN comic series.

>At the height of comics’ 1960s Silver Age, artist Steve Ditko was winning praise for his spectacular work on Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man and Dr. Strange. At the same time, Ditko was also creating powerful tales of other heroes: Charlton Comics’ Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and the Question. Now, for the first time, DC collects stories starring these enigmatic heroes, plus the Peacemaker and others — the heroes that provided the inspiration for WATCHMEN team members Night Owl, Doctor Manhattan, Rorschach, the Comedian and more. This title includes CAPTAIN ATOM (1966) #83-86, BLUE BEETLE (1967) #1-6, MYSTERIOUS SUSPENSE #1, CHARLTON PREMIERE #3, THE CHARLTON BULLSEYE (1975) #1, #5, THE CHARLTON BULLSEYE (1981) #1, AMERICOMICS #3 and AMERICOMICS SPECIAL #1.

They're going to be charging $60 for this crap. So here's all those comics for free. You're welcome. https://mega.nz/#!WbgXiYSa!mV7oT3rkXad2zTiFW0M0dDymVNWwNI_U1VsAy2Anvic

I imagine that Ditko would find this distasteful, but would be unsurprised.

I forgot about the HBO show which I dread seeing from just the description alone. A new testament to the classic old testament that was the original Watchmen, sounding like a leftist's wet dream of how a modern Watchmen should be. It'll be hilarious and sad if it goes in the direction tat they said it was. No release date other than 2019 so I can keep my sanity till that abomination comes out.

This is the going to be the cover.

I remember that Paul Levitz steadfastly refused to allow new Watchmen projects because he believed they would be against Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' wishes. Dan Didio and Jim Lee, on the other-hand, are so desperate to impress their corporate over-lords that they're literally bleeding the fucking thing dry.

On one hand I'm glad that the original Charlton appearances are being reprinted at all, though I wonder how long this solicitation will stand until its cancelled because of low preorders. On the other, knowing that it's just another attempt to shill Watchmen kills that enthusiasm in its tracks.

This is so mind blowing stupid and disrespectful, Ditko was a fucking artist with more imagination and talent than any of the kikes that are re-branding this so when the TV show comes out they can make a few shekels.

This is amazing. DC are now raping two creators at once. Is that some kind of record?

Don't forget Geoff Johns. He seems to be the one that's behind most of the Watchmen corpse beating going on at DC.

Makes me wonder what kind of point he's trying to make with Doomsday Clock? That it's Watchmen's fault for the dark and gritty stuff even thought that was the fault of it's imitators and not Watchmen itself?

<Geoff Johns

>Play Lego Batman 3

>unlockable characters are Daffy Duck as Green Loontren, Kevin Smith, and Geoff Johns

>no Ethan Van Sciiver minifig

How the fuck was I supposed to take full credit for Lego Comicsgate without an EVS minifig?!

Paul Levitz was a comics professional, a rare sort given the industry seems to be dominated by petulant, overgrown children. Didio is a marketing executive and up-jumped fanboy, and Geoff Johns is just an up-jumped fanboy. Neither of these people are professionals

Jim Lee I'm surprised at though. When he sold Wildstorm to DC and thereby made it so Alan Moore was potentially working for DC by proxy, he actually went Northampton personally to make assurances to Moore that he wouldn't have to deal with DC people.

>DC are now raping two creators at once

More than that. On the Watchmen side you have not just Moore but Gibbons and on the Charlton side, Ditko only did Question, Blue Beetle and Captain Atom. All the others were done by other people.

The Question is somewhat well-known, mostly due to JLU

>Makes me wonder what kind of point he's trying to make with Doomsday Clock? That it's Watchmen's fault for the dark and gritty stuff

Basically. Mostly trying to get the blame off himself, since he is directly responsible for the vast majority of fucked-up things that happened in the Post-Crisis era of comics and beyond.

Reminds me of when Marvel promised Frank Miller that he would be the only one to ever write Elektra. How long did that last?

What was it Machiavelli said about the promises of princes?

I was surprised when Peter Milligan used the character, I always thought he of all people would have shown some solidarity. "Hell yeah, I'll play Sun City!"

I know I'll regret asking this, but can you give me a rundown?

>>1053452

This is different though. Elektra was just a standard Marvel character created under standard work-for-hire contract which meant that Frank Miller didn't own the character and didn't really have any rights to her. Alan Moore, on the other hand, was supposed to have signed a contract for Watchmen that would have given DC the right to publish the book for a number of years but then Moore would have owned it, the characters, the copyright, everything. You know, like the kind of contract they have at a proper book publisher's. Of course the reality is that DC swindled him and put it into the contract that he'd get his rights back when Watchmen went out of print and of course they kept it in print. So Moore's rage is justifiable

More golden-age reprints on the shelves can't be a bad thing (yes, I know I could. Fuck you, I like paper.), but to do it like this? You just know faggot reviewers are going to think they're getting a "prequel" and then sperging out because the stories are just unconnected good clean fun.

At least the true beetle is getting some love.
