>killing several animals to make a meal

>that's ok

>killing one animal to prevent starvation of a whole kingdom

>FUCKING BARBARIC HUMANS THIS IS DARK MAGIC GET OUT OF MY XADIA!

I hope that in the next season they address the fact that Elves are obviously just racist towards humans and wanted them to remain weak.

The Dragon Prince, The Dragon Prince is a Canadian-American fantasy adventure computer-animated television series created for Netflix by Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond[1] and produced by Wonderstorm. The first season premiered on September 14, 2018. A second season was released on February 15, 2019.[2] A video game based on the series is in development.

The series is set in a fantasy world where humans and elves are in conflict. Long ago, the humans used dark magic, and were driven off by the dragons and elves to one end of the continent. Now, after humans killed the dragon king and his egg, war is imminent. As forces gather, the elves attempt to assassinate the human king Harrow and his heir, the young prince Ezran. One among the elves, the young Rayla, along with Ezran and his older half-brother Callum, discover that the dragon king's egg wasn't in fact destroyed, but stolen. Together they undertake to return the egg to the dragons to prevent war. But the mage Viren, King Harrow's advisor, is intent on war. He seizes power after the king dies in the assassination attempt, and sends his children Claudia and Soren after the fugitives.

Avaros (aravos?) is obviously the real progenitor of dark magic and it's his secret plan to rule the world or fuck it up. I just can't see dark magic being any more evil than regular magic or hunting. I'm getting flashbacks to aang in s3 of avatar, I don't see the moral crisis they're trying to manufacture obviously killing the firelord is not a big moral problem and magical hunting isn't bad either. They keep memeing that dark magic is the easy way out, but it's much harder than regular magic and no one seems butthurt about that. Obviously the big reveal will be that satan/avaros is all about the prevalence of dark magic and he's trying to fuck reality up or some shit because it fucks with the background magic flow or some shit.

I'm still curious as to which human and how they killed the dragon king, it seems obvious that it was viren and the kings posse but at the same time they don't seem anywhere near strong enough.

The thing that bothered me most about that plotline was how come the king couldn't come up with a better plan than "some of my people will starve in place of some of your people." What, did it not occur to you to talk to other kingdoms and find someone who had maybe a surplus of food? No plans to sell the fancy gold-trimmed armor everyone and their horse seems to have?

Dark Magic is a representation of the White/Western Man's technology/science that that kills the trees. Elves are noble savage non-Whites/Westerners. Ehasz is just another Leftie in cartoonland.

Mainstream Heroic Fantasy is tainted by many sources.

 No.1049961

Well now that we know the show is another underwhelming let's list ways to make it better.

>A. Either drop the "Dark MAGIC dat kills dragons/trees" angle and make the elves' behavior a matter of expelling racial/species/whatever competitors ORRR tone down the draining that Dark Magic does (namely by making so that elves or dragons can live after being drained).

>B. If we must keep the Dank Magic angle then we need to show it as having notably more advantages compared with non-Dark Magic (to the point that even elves would consider using it) without making it overly dependent on killing dragons/elves/other magical creatures.

>C. Building on point B, show that yeah there are elves use Dark Magic for whatever they use it for.

>D. Either go all the way with the multiculturalism and establish communities of elves who sided with humans for whatever (disagreeing with other elves over Dank Magic or just gravitating to human culture) or tone it down severely (that is, humans maintained their separate racial/ethnic identities or invented new ones regardless of having elves as a shared enemy).

Hello, I am a nigger king in charge of fantasy medieval europe, me, my son and my wife's son who is very white, like to imply past events and insert in real life political narratives into viewers and also elfs want to kill me personally because the plot needs to start somewhere and we don't know how to do it properly.

>S:1 E:2

Hello, I am the assassin elf girl and I come to kill everyone in this motherfucking castle, but I'll change my mind for some bullshit reason that was only briefly mentioned during the introduction of episode 1 and help the bitch I'm suppose to kill in their forced as fuck quest that came out of fucking nowhere. (literally, the assassin chase nigger king's sons to kill them and they find a dragon egg, then they all decide in that one fucking scene to go on their quest)

>rest of this gay shit of a show.

insert political narrative

insert social narrative

Force some bullshit like that dragon egg crap to make the plot advance

It's getting so bad these days

>Pick up a fantasy audio book because Tim Gerard Reynolds is a joy to listen to

>First book is ok, if a bit bland. Basically copper-aged humanity dealing with Elves being dicks as well as domestic issues and aggressive wildlife

>Main character revenge-killed an elf which sets things in motion. Hates his lot and just wants to be forgotten but the people around him refuse to let that happen for good or ill

>Second book starts

>Violently autistic girl who was totally there the whole time, no really. Enjoy her fourth autistic freakout as the book slams to a halt to describe it again

>Gay or wannabe ftm tranny female warrior just so good at her job why won't people realise it and also let her have sex with her female leader?

>Quasi-feral girl who showed magical aptitude in the first book is shown to be absurdly powerful because the plot demands it (she's not that bad, honestly, though the "civilized folk are so weird" shtick got old in the first book and doesn't get any better)

>Female leader who ascended after her husband died and the other claim to the chief position was cartoonishly evil and got eaten by a bear constantly has people talk about how great she is even as she's constantly rescued by other people

>Main character from the first book spends the whole second book crying about how he's going to get slaughtered in a leadership challenge before the dyke kills his challenger with a single arrow (which the autistic girl invents because she's just so smart) outside of a proper duel (nobody seems to care how she basically executed a high ranking chieftain)

I thought the first book might have gone somewhere, but the author's forward for the second book is basically him rubbing himself off to the characters. I didn't think much of it beforehand but that was before he added the autistic girl, lesbian, and shuffled off the main character in favor of a group of strong independent women who literally don't need no man

The only man who isn't evil, stupid, jewtastic, or a liar is a crippled hunchback who wants to fuck the autistic girl

And another. Book, this one I couldn't even finish

>A long recount of a kid's shitty life with childhood trauma, ostracizm, and abuse

>No fucking plot in sight halfway through the book just unstructured personal trauma

>Suddenly out of nowhere when the kid's training to be a ranger he meets a black girl (the book grinds to a halt to tell us she's black and cries about how racist everyone is to her) and instantly falls in love with the sassy black girl who don't need no man

Fuck, even the books I actually like aren't free of this

>Make a setting where both genders have strictly defined roles (unless you enter the priesthood)

>Men lead and work as craftsman and laborers

>Women are scholars and engineers to the point men aren't even taught how to read (they use a glyph system to basic ideas or identifiers)

>Even fucking FOOD is gendered (men=spicy female=sweet)

Now this didn't bother me UNTIL

>Total bitch (Oh so smart and capable and she'll get sarcastic and insult anyone who DARES ever question her. Has no sense of humor or even love for anyone outside her family) writes a lengthy diatribe about how SPECIFICALLY WOMEN shouldn't be forced to adhere to gender restrictions.

In a setting where most men aren't even taught to read

>I'm getting flashbacks to aang in s3 of avatar, I don't see the moral crisis they're trying to manufacture obviously killing the firelord is not a big moral problem and magical hunting isn't bad either.

While I agree, them being butthurt over the Dragon shit is ridiculous, War shit happens, they're clearly either trying to start shit or just pull some bullshit, the Firelord shit in Avatar was fuckin great, and completely justified and totally in line with Aang's character.

 No.1050245

>>1050242

>was fuckin great

It was the opposite of great, for 90% of the show his journey was to stop the firelord and then for 2 fucking episodes he suddenly realizes he'd have to kill him and not have a diplomatic teaparty. Hell you didn't even have to kill him just beat and capture him, but now all of sudden it's death or magic asspull bullshit.

 No.1050253

>>1050242

It was acceptable when Aang had to speak with his past lives since he learned that while he's not wrong value his teachings as an Air Nomad, he shouldn't place them above his duty as Avatar. The finale with energybending throws that out the window since he gets rewarded for refusing to do his duty.

>>1050245

It's silly has obviously killed before even ignoring his stint as ocean spirit. Even if you chalk it up to Aang being able to set aside those deaths as them being in the heat of battle there's nothing about his situation with Ozai that he couldn't apply it there too.

Book 3 can be considered the beginnings of Avatar's fall. How it handled Aang compared with past seasons honestly compares well with how Korra was written as a protagonist (namely by making feckless actions or failing to serve duty yet is excused or rewarded in the narrative).
