The biggest grip everyone get with SU is the calarts animation, and it's understandable, but look at the pilot, sure, not the best thing ever, but it isn't calarts. Imagine if the whole show, or at least the last arc, was made using this style. Would have at least improved a bit already.

The Steven of the pilot is not half as naive as the one in the show. It could have been less stupid in that way, you could have had actual deaths and touching delicate themes in a way the show couldn't. The show handled some themes pretty nice like Amethyst insecurities and Lapiz relationship with Jasper. But say, take all the ideas anons took, like Rose having to shatter pink diamond instead of being Pink Diamond herself, or Rose lying and being Steven's gem all the time. It could have been done, obviously with some changes, but it could have happened.
