>EXCLUSIVE: James Gunn has been hired by Warner Bros and DC to write and possibly direct Suicide Squad 2. It’s the first job he’s taken since he parted ways with Disney, which let him go from the lucrative Guardians of the Galaxy franchise in July in the wake of old controversial tweets that had been resurfaced.

>Since Gunn is adding his own spin to Suicide Squad, don’t be surprised if he finds room for Dave Bautista, who played the brawny deadpan Drax in the first two films. Bautista has been especially outraged in statements of support for Gunn.

Marvel is fucked and the stormy normies on twitter are chimping out.

Cap is definitely getting replaced by either Bucky or the Falcon and no one cares about either of those people. Iron Man will definitely stop being in these things eventually. That leaves Marvel without their leading men, they've made Thor a joke, more of a joke than even Ant-Man, the only character they take seriously is Black Panther, so you're going to have Black Panther, a black Captain America, and who knows what else. We're going to get to watch the MCU collapse the same way Marvel comics did. It's gonna be great.

The real question becomes if the MCU ends up becoming a platform for Venom the same way Marvel comics now puts all their top talent into Venom books since Eddie Brock is their only character that consistently sells.

They'll likely just push whichever current actor is the most profitable into the leading role, which will probably be Black Panther. If not him, it'll be Spiderman. I actually won't mind a BP-led MCU as long as it's natural to the storytelling of the universe. Replacing characters with nigger-fied legacies of themselves is retarded in comics because you know that it's only temporary, but if they shove BP front and center it's a decision they can't take back lightly which would actually give it some weight. I'd definitely prefer it be someone else, like if they use Thor acting as a global protector now that Asgardians will be living on Earth, with his own small country that welcomes the Avengers with their own giant glorious mansion and shit. There's some real interesting stuff they could do if they stop trying to stick with the comics so hard and let their universe become it's own thing.

I'm fairly certain Hemsworth wants out too. He complains about having to workout to stay in Thor shape, said he wouldn't make Thor 3 if was going to be a typical serious movie, and he seems to keep taking roles that aren't in the same wheelhouse. Once they loose the big 3 three they'll start to see a dip and I think it'll snowball from there.

Within the next 2-3 years, the MCU is going to be lead by Black Panther and Captain Marvel. I don't think another Black Panther is going to be able to catch the same lighting in a bottle the first one did, considered it was mostly propped up by nigs in the US. And the chick playing Captain Marvel seems to have the same chip on her shoulder that the Fembusters crew did. I doubt CM will bomb because normalfags are too invested in the MCU right now, but that kind of personality will alienate people at some point. Especially your average woman who doesn't identify as a feminist and who will be sad that Evans and Hemsworth aren't around to ogle. It'll be worse if Sony cuts the MCU off from Spider-Man now that Venom has done well for itself. Even the most basic of normalfags aren't going to stick around to see how Dr. Strange interacts with the Wasp.

And at that point the only thing that could save the MCU would be bringing in the X-Men or a reboot.

 No.1028418

>>1028401

People have been calling doom and gloom on the MCU for years. I'm not gonna say it's going to die, but post Infinity War is going to be hard for them, and a Captain Marvel movie being their selling point is maybe the worst possible sign for them. But the MCU can probably survive regardless, if they do the one thing businesses never ever do which is tone their budgets down. if they accept that they won't continue breaking box office records by a magnitude of ten thousand every time they release a movie and just keep making movies for the smaller audience that never loses interest they might be fine, but businesses have never accepted less money. They immediately trashcan entire franchises the moment they don't meet expectations.

>I'm fairly certain Hemsworth wants out too

I'm sure he does, but I can dream. Thor was honestly my favorite character in the MCU, before Ragnarok, and I still love him a lot. I just hope the fucking Kiwi dumbass tones down making Thor the butt of slapstick jokes

>And at that point the only thing that could save the MCU would be bringing in the X-Men

Not having the X-men for the MCU was the greatest stroke of luck that ever happened for them, and I hope they're not stupid enough to bring them in.

This is just a natural collapse. The MCU started managed by businessmen, ended up managed by true believers.

That's all its good for now, but before all that progressive shit reared its ugly head online after the whole Occupy Wall Street controversy almost a decade ago, tumblr was also a place a lot of pro-animators would post their sketches and personal tidbits. CH Greenblatt and even some lesser animators from CN and Kids WB shows used to have accounts there and would even share entire sketchbooks or stills. It was a fun place for young animators to admire and learn before the whole site went to shit, much like the rest of the internet. Honestly everything seemed to start getting worse after Occupy Wall Street and its only gotten horribly shittier since then since this political disease no longer only one site, but almost all of them.

Just incompetent. Otherwise she would have been able to force head of Warner Bros to take the blame for DC, while simultaneously building up a loyal crew of ideologues in DC Entertainment to revolt under the guise of "story group".

Fully agreed. Iron Man and Iron Man 2 will likely endure the test of time more so than the Avengers/crossover shit.

>Though of course you'd have to deal with Star Wars after that

Disney Wars is on its way to utterly fucking its own shit up though. Old fans are gone, Solo was a flop, TLJ alienated normalfags and mindless moviegoers, the new Resistance cartoon is almost universally hated, the new SW Marvel comics are even worse than the ones from 70s and Dr. Aphra went full lesbo, Chuck Wendig and other twitter authors alienated the book reading audiences, the toy sales are worse than ever and criticized heavily by /toy/fags and hype for Episode IX is practically non-existent. In a desperate attempt to restore interest, Disney is even announced bringing back Palpatine. Disney Wars is well on its way to JUST town.

>then ending capeshit altogether so something else can shape Jewllywood.

Once the Ms. Marvel, Iron Heart and FemThor movies get announced we'll start seeing the fall of Marvel, and if the new DC movies prove to be better, they won't be able to endure for too long after the MCU caves in.

Accurate and what's to be expected when the people in charge just see the movies as money printers rather than material that you actually have to work with.

At the very least the prequels came from some guy's mind and reflected his ideas and that gives them a consistent personality/sensibility (even if it suckes). Contrast with the sequels which are both soulless and inconsistent. Marvel studios figured out this much at least. Even if the movies are bland quip-fests that's still some personality consistent across them. NuWars isn't even bland. It's just nothing.

Midichlorians aren't the cause of the force. They're just bacteria attracted to the force. The force is still an all mystical bullshit energy.

You might get your wish regarding Drax since Bautista pretty much wants to leave Marvel and hop on Suicide Squad 2 after Infinity War.

Honestly, I felt for a while that the monster movies would replace the cape films.

>Honestly, I felt for a while that the monster movies would replace the cape films.

Remember when Universal tried to make a monster movie cinematic universe and then gave up immediately?

>be /tv/

>be so utterly assravaged about RLM not tearing TFA apart that you start a constant chain of ironic shitposts talking about the prequels being cineastic masterpieces

>brainlets geuinely start believing it

And this is how irony poisoning works.

>>1031194

It's honestly amazing how many suits operate on what is essentially cargo cultism (Marvel have cinematic universe. Marvel make much dollar. We also must have cinematic universe. We also make much dollar).

 No.1031212

It was a thematically superfluous addition to the universe. Contriving a means to assign power levels to a mystical force begins to clarify it, and after a whole trilogy of the force being entirely mystical, it's hardly surprising that people would respond negatively to the change.

A half decent Suicide Squad movie can be made. Gunn is wrong for the project, for completely different reasons then Ayer.

Thinking about it, they really needed someone who has made something like Dredd or The Raid.

That's not even the good Suicide Squad movie. Fuck that one just screws with the Arkham lore almost as bad as the comics did.

 No.1031386

Hell to Pay was poorly structured, suffered whiplash, and forced uninteresting characters to the front. And the only interesting thing about it required previous knowledge on flashpoint. Hell to Pay is worse then Assault. Stand by my image.

 No.1031387

>>1031386

Assault on Arkham forced more Harley Quinn on us, worse than she ever was in the games, forced a romance with Deadshot, had shitty stutter frames of animation, contradicted it's universe's continuity, and pointlessly teased us with a Joker death that everyone already knows is meaningless years prior.

Boys, boys, neither of those were good Suicide Squad movies, Arkham had god awful creative decisions but overall better structure. Hell to Pay had slightly less shitty decisions but repeated a lot of them, but the story had no clue where to go, if it wasn't for the Thawn/Zoom I know those are two different people I just don't care thing the movie would have been pointless.

Liking a film because it's mineable for memes (e.g. Sheevposting, I'll try spinning, wonky fight choreography) and hammy fun is very different from earnestly arguing something is a cineastic masterpiece.
