Posting all available clips and info for the Tom Hardy film in this thread. Hopefully once it releases on October 5th we will have all seen it and can discuss how true it was to the comics.

Starting in Chronological order with the first teaser trailer without CGI which led people to believe Venom wouldn't actually be in the film for more than a few minutes. As the later trailers show, a bunch of these scenes actually had the symbiote in them, it just wasn't completed yet.

Next the first actually trailer which showed Venom for the first time, but still didn't win over the naysayers.

The second official trailer once again showed off more Venom scenes and debuted the iconic "turd in the wind" sequence.

These fight scenes give me hope. I genuinely kind of like them. But I'm not really a big Tom Hardy fan. Especially after his Bane being so bad it was only remembered in memes. Yes people on here always loved Flash and Eddie's runs, the problem is op or a group of people have been shilling the new movie site wide, or Venom content in general site wide, even if they do it within board and site rules and make threads like "Shit son the new Venom OST is Amazing!" Or "Any good Venom video games?" On /v/ and /mu/ (those were actual threads. Shills already know but non shills don't unless you browse both boards.) It's still shilling that morally just isn't good and comes off too strong.

Likewise if you also weren't new, you'd know 80% of users don't like comic book movies here. The other 20% are newfags or a minority that was never outspoken until newfags who actually do enjoy them started bringing them up after 2016. Even then why the hell would we watch Venom, the story is confirmed to not follow the original, and diverged from the comics, it's also done by Sony so if we were into cape movies why would we not be Marvel or even DC fans who suck Nolan and the morons and kikes at Disney off like Reddit and the majority of people actually invested in comic movies do. Tell your boss to run a shill campaign only on Reddit next time, I assume you already are along with shilling it here, image boards are a waste of time to target.

It was an entertaining but kind of dumb action movie. At least this time around studio was not afraid to get a little crazy with the symbiote. Main complaint from critics seems to be that movie could not decide if it was supposed to be serious or comedic, but I think that it was a good mix of the two.

It was fine, Tom Hardy was pretty funny, but he wasn't Ed Brock.

Venom suit looked fine, but all the action got that shaky-cam and extreme close-up treatment.

Villain is shallow, unrealized and the movie couldn't decide whether he was malevolent or benevolent in the end.

Woody Harrelson as Carnage? Why?

Some kids kept getting out of their seats in the front row and doing the Fortnite dance. Were it not for the laws of this land I would have smacked the shit out of them.

Reddit is going to lap this shit up and make it even worse, I can already feel the stale memes coming out of it. Considering it was an Amy Pascal / Fox production, it was much better than I expected, even good at times, but it was not good enough for this IP.

No matter how the movie's quality is, this pic says so much.

The problem is that professional critics don't see things like the casual movie goers do and don't have a clue about the characters, so they can't even see it as fans.

Basically, their opinions about superhero-movies is completely useless. Same with videogame movies (I find the original Tomb Raider and Silent Hill highly underrated).

I really hate that "First movie has a shitty villain, after credits scene hints a great villain" mentality. Because when the first movie bombs (I even worry Venom kills Hardy's career) you will never see that villain in a movie. Rather a shitty first movie, but at least seeing that villain.

I talk about Carnage of course, the one everyone wanted to see.

Some movies did it right, like Maguire-Spiderman, cleverly started with the Green Goblin that even non-fans know.

But then it became a trend to start with shitty villains. Like Amazing Spiderman, basically the fourth Spiderman movie, and they started with the friggin Lizard, who looked absolutely shitty.

When I finally see Spiderman vs Venom, I'm friggin 50 and each one will be played by some Youtubers.

I honestly wouldn't mind this. I'm sick to death of Spider-Man at this point especially after they've found so many unique and colorful ways to completely butcher is character.

 No.1029015

As enjoyable as the movie is, there's some glaring flaws that needed to be fixed.

>soundtrack is balls

>abrupt cuts throughout the movie

>takes an hour just for Eddie to actually become Venom fully

>first half of the movie is basically just a poor montage to set up how much of a loser Brock is

>the villain is uninteresting and riot doesn't come into the movie till like the very end for a poorly done showdown

>cletus played by woody harrelson in an little orphan annie wig

These aren't enough bad points to make the movie score as low as it did though. If anything it was no worse than the average MCU filler movie.

>takes an hour just for Eddie to actually become Venom fully

How the hell is that a bad thing? You have a fully explanation of why Eddie is a loser and why his life is shit and should an hero, plus he gets time to actually fiddle whit his new power.it can’t always be like marvel with 20min of normalfag time and super duper hero quippy for the rest….look at every other movies prior than 2007, it’s called creating an arc for the character

 No.1029086

>>1029085

It's way too long to get to the stuff people actually wanna see. Which is Venom and Eddie being their characters. There's a lot that could've been cut out or replaced with their interactions instead. Then Venom's dramatic turn to wanting to protect earth wouldn't be so sudden.

 No.1029135

>>1029086

I'm willing to bet that was further developed in the material they did cut, including things like Eddie's heart condition from Venom. Didn't Tom Hardy say they cut his favourite 40 minutes from the film?

 No.1029137

Yeah but the only thing I know he said they cut was a dance sequence. I really do hope a directors cut comes out with less abrupt cuts.

Clearly you didn't, it's outright stated in the movie that he's dying because of an atrophied heart after being exposed to the symbiote, and that the symbiote is what's keeping him alive.

 No.1029382

I saw this last night, someone else in this thread said it and I agree, the soundtrack is shit. Two rap songs, horrible ones at that, and a generic orchestral score. Outside of that though, it was a blast and I enjoyed it a great deal. The back and forth between Eddy and Venom was great., I think the effects were well done and it was nice to see a cape movie that wasn't a Disney "quip a minute" blockbuster. Also got to see She-Venom, which was nice. Here is hoping to more good things to come. Maybe, just maybe, Sony has finally figured out how to make a good cape movie.

 No.1029388

I saw it last night and there are only a few bad things I can say about the movie:

>Soundtrack

Its shit, through and through.

>Shaky cam shit

The actions scenes could get a little hard to follow with all the motion from the camera, with the CG on top of it. Never enough to ruin a scene but was kinda distracting, especially during the final fight, where tendrils and punches are flying all over.

>Infection

The scenes between when Eddie was infected with Venom and when Venom actually shows himself are kinda long and could be cut down. A few of them got pretty cringy too.

All in all though, it was not a bad movie, and I would probably watch it again sometime in the near future. If they do another movie, I would consider going to see it.

The original was just "the virgin walk" about "losers" who walk in an anti-social way. People thought it was kind of a tryhard meme since a lot of the things about the virgin that made him a "loser" were pretty much entirely normal. So someone made the virgin walk vs the chad stride to contrast the "loser" virgin with the alternative version that's implied but not shown. It's a takedown of the autist who made the original and they're bizarre conception of normality or masculinity.

Honestly I really liked Eddie after the timeskip, where he was a broken down loser. Tom Hardy just played that well and the script gave it enough to work. I feel if they'd structured it so the part before that was done in a montage, it might have been better for time. As is, I don't hate it; the loser Eddie part was good and made the Venom parts worth the wait.

We desperately needed the director's cut in the actual film, though.

If all they did was put the end scene where he eats the extortionist in the middle of the movie, maybe after the chase scene, the movie would have been improved significantly.
