>When Captain Europa offers Janelle Jeanneret a recruitment deal she can't refuse, the French model doesn't hesitate to sign up with the Global Justice Initiative. After all, they're providing her with a killer apartment in Brussels, a new outfit, and even a flashy new name, in addition to paying her an awful lot of money… and it's even tax-free! But is there a catch? And how is a group of superhumans based in Europe going to go about establishing global justice anyway?

>Alt★Hero is the first in an exciting new line of superhero comics from Arkhaven Comics.

So apparently the EU is anti-smoking and doesn't want people linked to it looking sexy but are fine with torturing a guy in the middle of the street. I'd say this was written with the subtlety of a sledgehammer but that'd be an understatment. This looks like it might make The Movement look subtle.

Also, Captain Europe and the Justice Euro league are lazy as shit, you could have at least tried to make the leader of the team not an obviously nationality-swapped version of one of Marvels top superheroes.

>So apparently the EU is anti-smoking and doesn't want people linked to it looking sexy but are fine with torturing a guy in the middle of the street.

I mean, yeah, that sounds about right.

It's not like the EU has a great track record of respecting the rights of individual European people and countries.

 No.1023236

There's a lot to criticize. The art is amateurish, but it's aggravated by paneling that makes everything look cramped. The lettering is 'worse, as the bubble placement fucks with the dialogue and the flow of the pages. Hard to believe people put up money for this, because it certainly didn't go towards making a worthwhile comic.

I wrote out a long winded reply to the payscale of 250k but

>a lottery winner receives 30 million after taxes

>this superhero bitch has to work 80 years to make that amount

>despite winning the genetic lottery the payout pales in comparison and being among top 20 strongest in Europe

>she risks life and limb for her country, pain and suffering with being a hero

>but she gets a jazzy uniform

I had more points but I got distracted and dont care anymore the bottom line is why include the wage throwaway line if its so meager and jewish. I bet later on there will be a snide comment how shes earning 70 to justice mans 100 in terms of wage scale its so retarded

Remember that Trump ballon they tried to make a huge deal out of in London? Turns out another group went and likewise wasted tens of thousands of dollars making a similar balloon mocking the mayor of London. That's what this comic reminds me of. Instead of highlighting a problem by showing how it can be done without being a colossal fucking faggot, they go ahead and say, "Look! We can be colossal fucking faggots too! How do you like that?!"

How's that one saying go? "The best revenge is living well"? That's what I want out of this shit. I want someone to point out how fucking awful the comics industry has become, and then stick it to them by writing a comic that is better in every way without stooping to the same level of overt idiocy.

 No.1023366

>>1023295

That's because you're not actually reading the comic, you're just hating on the person behind the comic.

Admit it, if all you knew about this comic is "some guy wanted to try his hand at writing capeshit, and had a crowdfunding campaign successful enough to hire an artist for it", you would think it was neat.

 No.1023389

>>1023366

Actually the comic is pretty awful, even by my admittedly low standards, which are 80's indie capeshit standards. Even Bill Willingham's Elementals and fucking Labor Force run rings around this crap, and it is crap because it's written as propaganda, and it fails even as propaganda because the storytelling is so muddled as to confuse its own message.

I'm sure if the shilling was competent it would be pissing me off in its own right, but right now I just can't get past the blog level writing and Brazilian Simpsons porn level art.

All of the art is pretty mediocre, inconsistent in quality, and largely limited to upper body or shoulder-up shots. Backgrounds are pretty much nonexistent. Paneling is outright remedial, but not as bad as something like Dresden Codak. It's trying to push the sex appeal angle, but the artist can't draw cute girls to save his life. All of the heroes and the world they are attempting to build are quite boring and painfully obvious that they are evil.. and then they have them doing evil things because they just follow orders and this is supposed to be some kind of entire-fucking-pigs-for-hands hamfisted social commentary, I guess.

Either way, suck my entire ass.

 No.1023429

Oh, hey, somebody storytimed this fucking thing properly for once. All previous ones have just been a few random pages out of context. May as well give it a read, Patriotika was the most generic, boring origin story ever but at least looked good. This looks like it hasn't even got that… but then again, who reads Sonichu for the quality?

>>1023411

Those old "few random pages out of context" "storytimes" included pages from later issues that were clearly just Poser characters badly traced and shooped onto sketchup backgrounds. Yeah good proportions, anatomy and perspective are good and all, but it's honestly better to make a few errors in the process of putting the work in the hard way.

bump

 No.1035961

I noticed some trouble with the bubble placement, like towards the end when they said they had to go, shit panel. I put up with worse art than this so I don't mind it being shit. The comic should have pushed how the heroes are propaganda pieces more instead of going right into the raid, and then ended the first issue with capturing a guy and saying they were going to torture him, but then you can't have the smarter good guys show up that issue, not that they made the good guys sympathetic instantly KOing the speedster. Overall the comics plot seems to be suffering from the classic problem of making the "bad guys" look acceptably competent.

Closest thing we get to her now is Spiderling in Renew Your Vows.

Y'know I heard Vox Day managed to rope Chuck Dixon into this project. It has me worried since I like Chuck Dixon's work if it will turn out shit because of the politics Vox rams through the comic. I know Chuck is conservative but from what I remember he seemed to put the story before the politics.

I love how the "uncanny valley" face in the third panel actually doesn't manage to look any worse than the rest of this abortion.

The artist literally can't draw any worse when they try.

Dixon has gone full magapede. He's works for Vox Day, apparently believes the whole Q-anon conspiracy theory Indiegogo pulled his "Alt-Hero:Q" campaign, and has donated money to Richard Meyer's legal fees.

At this point Dixon's nothing but politics.

I feel bad now since I had an idea for a Punisher story where he goes to Hollywood to kill some producer involved in a sex ring but the producer has a personal spy master that's former Mossad to protect him and uses the media to frame Frank for some shit. So Frank has to clear his name and expose the producer and probably kill him.

 No.1048045

>>1048036

>So Frank has to clear his name

Eh, go ahead and let the hero actually suffer overarching consequences for once. Even if he proved his innocence definitively, plenty of people would still consider him scum (for his role in this storyline).

I've never been avid of politics anyway…

Besides, practically everybody in Europe hates the EU today.

Too many Cons to counter the Pros these days.

 No.1048155

>>1048045

You know you have a point. Maybe I might just have it where Frank doesn't care what people think of him and just go after the guy even with his ruined reputation. Honestly, the whole media frame thing was meant to be some sort of commentary on how the media twists reality to create narratives but I didn't develop it that well. Might get rid of it.
