>Under the pact, Hirsch will create and develop new TV series and features for Netflix.

>"Alex is an imaginative storyteller with new ideas who’s quickly developed a reputation as a fresh new voice in animation,” said Netflix originals vp Cindy Holland. "We couldn’t be more excited to work with him as we continue expanding our adult animated slate.”

>For his part, Hirsch earned an Annie and BAFTA Award for his work on Disney Channel/Disney XD's animated series Gravity Falls. The series ran for two seasons and went on to continue with a graphic novel, which went on to become a New York Times best-seller. More recently, he co-wrote the upcoming Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu and contributed story work to Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

How does it feel that you won't make anything better than Gravity Falls and that you are the sole reason of the worst bits of it.

Also, didn't he had a deal with FOX? Did that blew up with the Disney acquisition so FOX sold it to Netflix?

>>1018636

>Finally, no more broadcast rating standards to hinder his vision of a sister cuckoldry fetish cartoon.

Somehow he made incest look lame.

More on that, he has been at it for 2 years now and no progress has been shown, more reason to believe he has no imagination considering how much from his real life he brought inspiration from in order to make GF decent.

blah blah blah politics but I was genuinely excited about netflix originals but it's quickly becoming poz central. Who knew the winning side needed so much fucking propaganda, it's not like america is a hyper conservative society and still the propaganda flows like an open spigot.

I'm excited for bright 2 but I expect netflix lineups to get worse, we're in the middle of a business model bubble. Businesses have huge "customer" bases (youtube, amazon, google, netflix) but aren't actually profitable but people keep investing in the hopes that the untapped potential will be realized and they'll finally have a successful profitable business model. I don't know when these tech tragedies will massively shrink and curtail services but we live in a golden age of free shit.

>If he's working with Netflix then he must really be desperate since they give shit like Big Mouth a second season.

Big mouth wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't because they put out some seriously fucked up jokes, then try to take itself seriously so it ends up pretty awkward, or worse, they have a good setup for a fucked up joke but end up pussyfooting at the end.

Not to mention the character designs actually made me want the CalArts style back.

>More recently, he co-wrote the upcoming Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu and contributed story work to Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

So that's why the Detective Pikachu movie will be starring a nigger instead of the games white character. And of course, Spider-verse focuses on Miles the friendly negrohood Spider-man.

Alex is really trying to prove how much he wants dat BBC.

Also, the little faggots face looks ridiculous; he's far too baby faced to be able to take that pathetic goatee seriously.

With Netflix originals, I was expecting Disney tier animation with mature themes. What we got were crappy cartoons with gay shit.

I guess animation is owed to technical skill instead of budget. It's disheartening that we lost a lot of talented people.

>I guess animation is owed to technical skill instead of budget. It's disheartening that we lost a lot of talented people.

Is somewhat owed to both, while you need budget to buy good tools since in the digital era cheap tools can actually hamper the work there's also the fact that older tools that are more reliant on the skill of the author will need a lot higher skills, not to mention that even if you manage to bypass that, production times world still be abysmal.

Netflix is doing good AFAIK with Voltron (I stopped at season 3) the animation is decent and in modern standards good while producing at a healthy rate.

But I'm not gonna pretend that a shit ton of money is being wasted on A-listers on VA.

The only good thing about GF is the fact that it came out just before the CY and the first 2 seasons are comfy enough to watch. The episodic episodes of them just exploring the town do go well with beer and chips. If it went on Dipper would be dating a black chick and Mabel would transition. The humor is almost entirely based on "le epic xD" pop culture references for reddit, if it came out today and lacked that slightly charming naivete of pre Reddit&Memey influence, I would hate it with passion.

Gravity Falls did drift downwards once it went full throttle on its epick lore. Hurst wasn't able to resolve all the threads he introduced satisfyingly (hence the lama and Pacifica connection, obviously thrown in late in development since Hurst decided to include her in the Weirdmageddon team despite his contempt for her since she was a fan favorite). Hurst's politics and personal problems infesting his writing didn't help either (see the PUA episode that apparently tried to make Dipper look like a philander except he really wasn't).

>cherry picking outdated articles to try and prove your shit point

https://www.wsj.com/articles/netflix-reports-strong-growth-in-new-users-1539720594

>Streaming video giant added 6.96 million users in the third quarter, surpassing the company’s forecast and sending shares higher

>The better-than-expected user growth is likely to allay investor fears after the previous earnings report that Netflix’s momentum was slowing. Notably, even in the relatively mature U.S. market where growth at times has slowed year-over-year, Netflix vastly exceeded its guidance, adding 1.09 million domestic customers, compared with 850,000 subscribers in the year-earlier quarter.

https://www.businessinsider.com.au/netflix-q3-earnings-2018-10?r=US&IR=T

>The better-than-expected subscriber additions, combined with some one-time accounting-related benefits, helped Netflix handily beat Wall Street profit targets. The company posted a profit of 89 cents a share in its most recent period, a full 21 cents a share better than analysts polled by Bloomberg had forecast.

>As it rapidly expands its lineup of original shows and movies, the company said it would bring $1 billion in production over the next 10 years to a new production facility in Albuquerque, N.M., that will create as many as 1,000 production jobs a year.

>Sales for the quarter rose 34% to $4 billion, in line with analyst estimates. International streaming revenue jumped 49% to $1.97 billion, while domestic sales increased 25% to $1.94 billion.

Face facts, Netflix has finally reached the point of too big to fail, they could literally invest 10 million into 13 hour long episodes of a still shot on a piece of shit, and they would still come out on top of it.

>Only hit original shows are Marvel Netflix, Bojack horseman, aggretsuko and volttron reboot

Utter poppycock. Netflix is still young and vulnerable while bigger, older and stronger networks and companies than it have perished over the years in this dog eat dog world of business and disloyal masses. And on a similar note, some of the worst shows out there are also hosted on Netflix, as made clear by Will Smith's retarded progeny and your picture's namesake saves the shitty world.

The problem is most other streaming services are shit, the only way netflix can fail is if literally every company and their mother launch their own streaming platform and over saturate the market, which is likely to happen at this point. But if anything netflix and Amazon are the only two that are likely to come out of that unscathed, since Amazon's service is integrated really well into their market place while Netflix is the leading platform in distribution right now.

Their stuff is also far from the worst. Hulu and Amazon have funded FAR worse TV shows and movies.

 No.1047703

The reason why there's no change in the animation industry is because every sizeable outrage against shitty cartoons eventually dies out due to everyone already saying what needed to be said. Take the PPG reboot for example:

It was at its strongest last year around either the "NO ME GUSTA" fuck-up or the "Horn, Sweet Horn" episode debacle, but after that, people just stopped caring even after the second season was announced. If the hateboner had still been going strong, this could've been the pinnacle of it, but everyone had said their case about the show and stuck to their guns. So I don't think this is enough to get people to talk about it more and get proper answers, as it's not like with the incident with Clarence's creator sexually harassing female co-workers.

I mean, if Rebecca Sugar's Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy porn didn't do anything, this isn't going to either.
