I make omurice pretty often. Good for breakfast especially if I don't feel like buying bread or potatos.

Local grocery doesn't sell much ingredients for anything more fancy.

What do you put in your omurice?

I see nips always add some interesting looking sauces that are a pretty big departure from traditional American omelets.

I'm trying to help some anon with a recipe, he wasn't super descriptive, but I think I found something close.

Looks like a pretty basic stew with Pumpkin, Potato, Onion, and Carrot.

I was going to ask about that, there's a Thai Pumpkin Soup that uses red curry to spice it up.

As for the kabocha, I'm not sure how easily avaliable that is to you. You might want to try butternut squash.
but the one you had probably was kabocha
My fiancée can't eat anything with wheat in it so I've been trying to improve and expand my skills in preparing asian dishes. Are there any simple and not too hot curries you can recommend?

Curry is really easy to make, and I don't think there are any staple ingredients that have gluten in them.

I looked around a bit, and this seems to be the easiest recipe to try. I haven't tried it myself, but if it's too hot you can use less spice or serve with yogurt.

>1 package of boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)

>1 can of coconut milk

>1 TBSP potato starch

>1 onion (peeled and sliced)

>1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

>2 TBSP curry spice

>1 TBSP cumin spice

>1 1/2 tsp turmeric

>1 1/2 tsp black pepper

>Salt to taste

Pour about a 1/4 cup of olive oil in the bottom of your pan. Heat the pan on medium high. Add the chicken, onions, mushrooms and salt and cook at a low boil. Cook until the onions and mushrooms are rendered. Pour the excess liquid from the pan and remove the chicken to dice it. Add the chicken back to the pan. Open a can of coconut milk and add 1 TBSP of potato starch. Stir until smooth. Pour into pan. Add curry, cumin, tumeric, black pepper, and sea salt. Simmer on the stove on a low boil, covered, until ready to serve (about 15 minutes). Serve with rice, or on its own.

Sorry for the crossboard shilling, but we're having a Gal Gohan reading club at /animu/.

It's borderline /ck/ related, as it uses a cooking club as a scenario for a romance

How the fuck do you even cook rice? Every time I try to make riceballs, even when I use sushi rice, it's just crumbly bullshit.

>you've got to wash it, bro

Either makes no difference or it's just gluggy slime trash.

I can't believe how fucking hard I'm struggling to cook fucking rice.

Try a rice cooker. If you still can't cook it right just kill yourself. It's not complicated. put one part rice and two parts water in a pot and simmer it until the water is absorbed.

Didn't want to create a thread for it. That's why I went for the weeb-topic thread.

It's crossboard shilling, I know how cringy it can get. Didn't want to cause much inconvenience to you guys.

If I may try to salvage this thread in some way:

Temaki

Temaki is a variation of the usual sushi roll, but shaped in the form of a cone for easy handling barehanded. Created for people who had to eat standing up, or in quiosks where you didn't had a balcony to place your food on. These are very popular over here in Brazil, serving as a sort of japanese fast-food (the closest thing to it, at least)

I'd think a cooking-oriented fiction thread should be fine. There are many such mangas, animes, comics, movies, etc. In fact, I thought we had one already.

I love natto. It's definitely an acquired taste for most people. I personally love it. I make my own following the directions in vid related, but I don't use soy. I usually use black eyed peas. They make an amazing tasting natto. Sometimes I mix it up and use regular green garden peas. They make a really unpleasant smelling natto, but they taste just fine.
