I don't have any stories but I need to know if other people have this situation.
Any time I cook for my mum and do something that isn't what she makes every week (See soggy fried meats and potatoes) she has to ask what it is. So like if I'm making shakshouka she has no fucking clue what it is, scolds me for making 'weird' food, but then once it's done she badgers me to know whats in it like she's judging if it's safe to eat.
I'm learning she'll eat basically anything if I don't tell her it contains any ingredients she doesn't recognize, or she recognizes as spicy (Even though most aren't). She doesn't even remember things I make nearly every week, having to ask 'Whats it called?' whenever I don't bother with a proper name.
Like I make okonomiyaki every saturday, every week she needs to ask and 'Cabbage pancake with a savory sauce' isn't good enough. I need to fucking detail all the ingredients I'm putting into it and explain when and why people eat it. She's even eaten it before, and then later decided it was too weird to eat.
