This is just a thought that's been on my mind a lot recently. With the new Avengers movie coming out I can't help but notice that so many people around me are so incredibly excited for this movie. I just want to preach the gospel to them, if they (or even myself) were this excited about Jesus, just imagine what the world would be. But instead they're all focused on a bunch of dudes with capes and arguing over which one is coolest. What do you guys think of this?

It's their replacement for religion. Some 40 year old dude I know recently bragged to me how he has collected over 1000 Star Wars figurines and how he's running out of storage space for them. When I asked him about Sri Lanka he seriously told me "I hate how they say those were Christians. Why identfiy them by religion You're supposed to see the person, no the religion." Sad stroy, but that is where we are.

That's what got you there? I was a bit more concerned about his feverish individualism and his failure to grasp that Christians are the only religious group that's allowed to be openly persecuted by the entire global media. But yeah, wealth hording is sad too.

I know a lot of them are replacing religion with worldly things, but what about the ones who claim to be Christian but are beyond lukewarm and fill their lives with worldly things instead of Christ? I know a bunch of people like this and I'm not quite sure how to approach them about it.

Ask them to reread the bible. Tell them that hell awaits them and ask them if they are ready and willing to receive eternal damnation. You'll most likely get incredulous stares or a smug retort because they are feelgood christians who don't really care about God but you can tell yourself "At leat I tried."
