Jesus became sin. When he was on the cross, he was totally wretched and forsaken by God. That's hell. How can you conceive of a greater sacrifice than that?

Are you already acknowledging that a sacrifice was necessary? You're just asking how Jesus's death on the cross constitutes a sacrifice?

Well considering He was beaten by Roman soldiers then hung on a cross instead of just staying in heaven, I'd say He made a sacrifice. Also, He became sin like >>3204 and >>3208 said, which would be pretty hard for someone who knew no sin to go through.

Yeah he suffered but it wasn't even like he had a choice because he was just going through God's plan, and doesn't realize he's meant to die until the Jews chose a serial killer to be freed instead of Jesus

He did have a choice because He is God. The punishment for sin that was meant for us was laid upon Him but because He is greater than death he came back to life and in the process He preached the Gospel to those who were already dead and opened up the way to eternal life for the rest of us. He didn't need to lose anything, just take our punishment for us.

The Bible is just a collection of books, many of which contradict each other. It's not a logically consistent life manual.

It takes a finite man eternity to pay for one sin, let alone all of them. Jesus, an infinite being, bore an eternity's worth of punishment for millions of people within several hours on top of his already excruciating physical suffering and death.

That's irrelevant. His human nature died a fully human death and was resurrected by God the same way that we will all be resurrected one day. The human death of a sinless human(which Christ was, since He is both fully God and fully man) was all that was required to atone for human sins. Moreover, the resurrection was necessary for our salvation because if Christ had not defeated death we ourselves would not be able to rise again as He did.
