No, it doesn't make any difference. We can view this as equivalent to any heathen nation building any heathen shrine. It is all equally not honoring God.

The only relevant question is around the Jews' physical presence in the land of Israel as it applies to eschatology.

It could be a neat architectural project though, and it would be cool to see if they were intending to rebuild exactly the last temple.

He's referring to a passage in 2 Thessalonians where Paul says that "the man of sin will enthrone himself in the temple of God." Some people take that to mean that there will be a literal Third Temple that the Antichrist will take over, but personally I think it's talking about the Church since every other time Paul refers to a Temple of God, he's talking about the Christian Church, not a literal building. And Paul was writing all of this when the Second Temple was still standing.

interesting take, but was Jesus also talking about a non literal temple when he said - those who be in Judea flee into the mountains when you see the abomination of desolation, and pray that your flight not be in winter. ? maybe idk but its an interesting concept to think that the abomination of desolation is the mark of the beast some chip in the temple of our mind

the more i think about it there has to be a literal temple, think about Daniels prophecy 9:27. 27 "And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate."

the text implies that there is a literal temple for the Antichrist to stop the sacrifices. if the Jews are sacrificing something it has to be at the temple

Christians are in the tribulation and that the phrase " he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" AACTUALLLY MEANS "stop playing worship music". get real…. the text means what it means. its simple hes talking about the Jews, and they have started doing sacrifices and oblations IN THE TEMPLE, then he stops that. it's beyond me how you can start to reach so far just to make it say what you want it to
