I mean, we do know people usually do not rise from the dead. How do we know Christ actually did? How do we know the witness account is accurate? How do we know the sources written 2000 years ago are accurate? I would love to believe that Christ was truly resurrected, I just don't know how to accept this as a factual event that really did take place.

I did read the Bible and I went to church. Again, I really want to believe and be a good Christian. But I really have an issue with accepting the resurrection as something real and that's a real hurdle for me that I don't know how to overcome.

Just think of it from an unbiased perspective. If you weren't a christian and knew nothing about Christianity. Someone tells you "this guy rose up from the dead 2000 years ago because this book says so!". Would you be inclined to believe this?

I don't think I can be a real christian until I start believing that Christ actually rose from the dead. But as stated earlier, I find it really hard to do so. Do you have any advice for me?

Consider the actual account for yourself. Pray for understanding knowing in advance that if the account is true, then God will be the one teaching you anything along the way. This takes a certain humility, but then again it says in scripture that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. I think anyone who tries to read the scripture will find according to their search, because Jesus himself said ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened to you. But it can only happen according to what He says if you knock and ask firstly, and this is where a lot of people get tripped up. Hope that helps.

But doesn't this approach require faith in the first place? If I don't have sufficient faith to begin with, then how can I to pray to God and expect him to give me faith?

Multiple people not only testified they saw Jesus after he had risen but they were actually tortured and martyred for telling people this. People don't uphold their own lies if it means they'll suffer without good reason, and what reason would they have to lie of this in the first place? Paul literally persecuted Christians until Jesus appeared to him. Why would he suddenly contradict himself and join those whom he had just previously ridiculed if it was all for a lie? My advice is you pray the rosary every day, particularly the Sorrowful mysteries. Once you really meditate on the Passion of Our Lord and ask him for the same patience, perseverance, and fortitude with which He suffered through more than any man for the sake of our salvation your faith and love for Him will grow. Bless you brother.

I'm of the camp that you need Faith first to accept the teachings and promises of Christ.

For the simple fact that testing his promises beyond worldly life is simply impossible unless we are at Death's door.

The Talmud written by Jesus's fervent enemies says Jesus and His disciples made miracles, which they cope saying it was witchcraft.

A book biased agaisnt Jesus had no reason to attribute to him powers unless it was something so blatant and known that there was no point denying it. So instead of deny they cope.

There is plenty of other stuff confirming Jesus in the Talmud> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1rJVkYyAzI

Jew historian Josephus saying that the destruction of the temple was something coming out of a fable also confirms there was something else at play here.

Pray for faith. If you're not in a state of Sanctifying Grace there is very little you can pray for except faith, grace and understanding.

You know there is a creator because the universe, God's creation, exists.

You know he wanted Men to live in his creation, because the odds that all the physical constants being perfect for life is astronomically small.

You know there is the Catholic Church, which was blessed by God with prosperity and wisdom when they held true to the faith, and fell when they rejected God's teachings.

You know God loves you because his laws against sin are for your own happiness.

From there, accept the teachings of the Holy Mother church.

>But doesn't this approach require faith in the first place?

If you are willing to read the Bible and go to church, you clearly have what it takes to pray a humble prayer to get yourself out of a dark place into a place bright and shining with the glory and grace of Jesus Christ where you can see. God said that those who ask are those who will also receive. We all find according to our individual search, whether seeking God or something far more trivial depending on your reasons for searching Scripture.

>how can I to pray to God and expect him to give me faith?

He gave us life, so that should stand as evidence. He gave us his only begotten Son in order to commend his love toward us. If a child were to ask his father for food, would he give him rocks? No, then what about God who went through with creating us out of his own goodness? Who, if he be true, gives life to men. There's no need to deny it, because we have all seen His creation.

Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
