Seems pretty obvious to me. To be subject to them to a reasonable extend, to take care of them and care about them and their souls, to try to make them proud of your behaviour, etc.

It really evades me how anyone could not see something this obvious.

Okay let's take the example of someone who was abused by their parents and wants to stay away from them. What would be the proper course of action? Never talk to them but send money? Cut all ties but pray for their souls? Visit on Christmas and Easter?

Get away from the abuse. I would try to get them to repent for the sake of their souls, try to make amends, love them. What is done exactly depends on the case, but I would say those would be the intentions.

Specifics are hard to figure out in these cases, thats why you should ask your priest what to do. He will most likely give you a satisfactory answer that you wouldnt have thought off in that way, after all it is grace that they give advise through.

The church used to drive truckloads of women from battered wife centers back to their abusive husbands. Pastor Anderson says there's no such thing as marital rape. Anyone who's ever grown up in an abusive home and has written about it, documented and shared their story if ever found justice only after years of gaslighting and character assassination of the plaintiff.

I did some digging to find a source that isn't totally (((suspicious))) for you to know this isn't purely anectdotal but far beyond the scope that can be proven in the discovery of a forum like this.

My point is that family abuse claims no matter how much is backing them up, their great task of suffering is waiting for late weak justice poor peace making.
