I'm a newbie when it comes to saints, is there some compendium where I can read up on saints?

There's some normal websites and podcasts, and some shorter books on it if you just look on amazon as well.

This is from the 19th century and is sort of considered the best compilation though.

It's monthly so just look up each volume for the month. You can get some condensed ones that only have one daily but this is sort of the big book
