If you add on a sin you just remembered to confess before the priest absolves you but he doesn't understand you intend to confess it, are you absolved or not?

a76bca  No.810727

That is a tough question.

554e03  No.810734

Yes, since you were not willingly hiding it, you are absolved, from all sins even those you didn't know or remembered you committed, just confess it next time.

I would say you are absolved.

How do you confess sins you've forgotten? I've lied more times than I can count and I probably don't remember half of them.

Bump for this. I would also like to know an answer. Once my fiancée and I get married I'm rushing to the nearest confessional and I am deathly afraud I may have forgotten a sin during my 15+ year absence from the Church.

Let me use this thread to ask this question.

I'm in mortal state for something like 12 years and I still don't have the courage to go to confession, or return to the Catholic Church.

>video related, my current soul in mortal sin

Forgot to ask, how I am supposed to confess 12 years of sins, since I pretty much can't recall of them all ?

1c110f  No.810778

Prot here, can someone tell me what this question even means? I guess my main confusion is what "confess" refers to. If you're telling the Priest your sin (I assume that's what OP meant by

>add on a sin)

Would you tell the Priest your sin without intending to confess it?

9726d0  No.810780

>>810778

I believe what OP means is that while you're confessing your sins you remember a sin you forgot to confess and add onto it, Does it get absolved?

Anon… You're gonna wanna get in that confessional before marriage or you won't be receiving communion on your wedding day.

>>810762

You simply state during your confession that you ask for absolution of all sins that you may have forgotten. It's worth noting that we are still guilty of committing sins that we forget so it is very important to always state that you ask for sins that you have forgotten in your examination of conscience.

Bless me father, for I have sinned. My last confession was DD/MM/YYYY. Prior to that confession, I had forgotten some sins that I now recall and wish to confess.

[Start listing forgotten sins]

Regarding the sins commited after my last confession… (confess normally)

I tried to confess my sins, but the priest said he couldn't absolve me because my fiancée and I are living together.

Those sins you ask for forgiveness for honest forgetfulness are absolved so you don't *have* to confess them again but it is good practice to develop a desire to confess your sins. Not only will it lighten your soul knowing that you have accounted for your sins but you have also been absolved of them.

Anon, I understand your hesitation. I converted this year and had about 10 years of mortal sin to confess. To this day I fear confessing a single mortal sin because all mortal sins are shameful and perverse. It is good to feel this same, for if you do not you will not kill your vices. I have wept in the confessional in sorrow of my sins, and many others do as well. This is the type of contrition one must have in order to be forgiven. Man is both the chisel and the marble, anon. You must face the pain in order to become holier, and your shame and sorrow is a just realization of the grave offense you have committed. That said, you must go to church (don't receive the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin for that is a sacrilege) and afterwards try to talk to the priest and ask to set up a time to give your confession and tell him you've been out of the Church for so long. If you can't do that face to face you could try emailing him or something. After your confession you may receive the holy Eucharist, but just knowing that you have been absolved of all your sins and you are pure in the eyes of the Lord, that if you dropped dead the instant the priest finished saying "I absolve you of your sins in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit", you will go straight to heaven when the moment before you were doomed to hell, is perhaps the greatest feeling in the world.

Make sure you do a thorough examination of conscience, there are guides online. I recommend writing them in a notebook and burning the pages after absolution. Good luck, anon, and God bless.

Sounds like you have a great priest, anon, do you recognize such a blessing? That said, you ought to stop cohabitating no matter the expense. Such a thing is a scandal. Here is what Christ said about scandal:

>Luke 17:1-2

>1 And he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come: but woe to him through whom they come.

>2 It were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones.

Meditate on the experience of being cast into the deep sea with pic related wrapped around your neck.

I'll just leave this here, it's an outline of a confession notice the "For these, and ALL the sins of which I have at any time been guilty"

I usually throw in "and can't recall". This only applies for sins you can't recall or forgot, but if one is intentionally hiding a sin, it will add another mortal sin. I recall hearing a story about this person who turned her life around for Christ, turned into a nun, everyone in her Order saw her as a very Holy person, but Everytime she went into confession she was so ashamed of a Sin she had committed before she turned to Christ, so she would never confess the sin and hide it. She later on died and everyone thought she went to heaven, but the Lord gave the sisters a vision of her in hell, and she said"If only I had confessed my sin" but yes hiding a sin intentionally adds another sin, and then if you eat the Eucharist, it adds another sin, if one eats it while under a Mortal sin.
