Unfortunately, both of those parties (via Calvinism and the Medici and Borgias) are just as bad at usury as any Jew.

Orthodox are merely victims of usury, not perpetrators (see Greek debt crisis). Sadly, even Islam has remained pretty based about it too.

Oh, they're stupid alright. Not trying to say they aren't. I just think they're latecomers and don't have much know how to be part of the "system". They were ruled by Ottomans in all of the centuries the West acclimatized to usury. And then have only been their own nation for a century.. and sort of old world in some respects still. They wanted to be part of the "club" everyone else was in, but had no idea what they were getting into.
