The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

What are some of your favorite quotes from St. Faustina's Diary? Have you guys been taking part in the Divine Mercy Novena? I'm getting really excited for Divine Mercy Sunday! Also, have any of you guys read St. Faustina's biography by Sr. Sophia Michalenko? If so, what did you think of it?

Also Happy Eastertide!

I encourage the spreading of the Divine Mercy Image which OP has posted. It is the original one, approved by Saint Faustina. The more popular one was only painted after her death, and polish bishop of that time called the new image unfit for worship. So I advice to keep the one OP has. Plus interesting fact, the face of Christ on this image is the same as the shroud of Turin. There's a polish movie about it, Miłość and Miłosierdzie ( Love and Mercy), I don't know if it's out for English speaking folks.

God bless and Ave Maria!

The Diary was placed on the list of prohibited books by John XXIII. Pius XII also banned it beforehand along with the image. The Holy Office under John XXIII said there's no proof that the contents in it came from a supernatural origins and many things in it are dubious.

>Not once, but twice under Pope John XXIII, this particular devotion was condemned through the Holy Office. The first condemnation was in a plenary meeting held on November 19, 1958. The declaration from the Holy Office issued these three statements about this devotion:

>1.There is no evidence of the supernatural origin of these revelations.

>2.No feast of Divine Mercy should be instituted.

>3.It is forbidden to disseminate writings propagating this devotion under the form received by Sr. Faustina, as well as the image typical of it.

>On March 6, 1959, the Holy Office issued a second decree on the order of Pope John XXIII. It forbade, once again, spreading the images of Divine Mercy and the writings of Sr. Faustina propagating this devotion. It also stated that it was up to the bishops to decide how they were going to remove the images that had already been displayed for public honor.

>Then, on 15 April 1978, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith issued a new notification, signed by the Prefect and the Secretary of the Congregation, that rescinded the previous one, reversing the ban on circulation of Faustina's work. It decreed: "This Sacred Congregation, in view of the many original documents that were unknown in 1959, giving consideration to the profoundly changed circumstances, and taking into account the view of many Polish ordinaries, declares no longer binding the prohibitions contained in the cited 'notification'.". "Also, the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith declared that, "with the new 'notification' … there no longer exists, on the part of this Sacred Congregation, any impediment to the spreading of the devotion to The Divine Mercy."

>"In 1965 the Archbishop of Cracow, Karol Wojtyla, knowing full well that the Vatican had received FAULTY TRANSLATIONS of the Diary, began the official process of investigation into Sr. Faustina's life and virtues. He asked one of Poland's leading theologians, Fr. Ignacy Rożycki, to prepare a critical analysis of the Diary as part of that process. Fr. Rożycki, however, did not really want to waste his time analyzing what rumor told him were the hallucinations of an uneducated nun. Yet just before sending his letter of refusal to the Archbishop, he picked up the Diary and casually began to read a few pages "just to pass the time." His prejudice against it was immediately shaken. Then he read the whole thing through, and afterwards he decided to devote the rest of his life to the study and propagation of her message."
