What are they doing right? Why isn’t simple living more popular amongst us? I’m planning on going off the grid sooner or later to escape this world of sin once I get married.

Depends on the community, but yes some will allow outsiders so long as you are willing to learn the language and live the lifestyle

From what I’ve read on them most do accept outsiders who are willing to accept the lifestyle and the discipline that comes with it. I think they’re called “seekers”, and they’re pretty rare since like the other anon said some of them speak primarily German and the change from a modern technologically-dominated lifestyle to the austere and spiritual one of the Amish is likely extremely difficult for someone not accustomed to if.

You forget to mention a few things.

>Complete and utter lack of evangelization, much moreso than any other christian group
