The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

>praying for wealth

>praying for power

>praying for destruction of others

>praying to mind control others

>praying to have God changes the rules of his universe to fit your earthly desires

>literal black arts and cursing going on within Christendom

Just reading the prayer request thread is disgusting, why do you want to constantly change God's plan and break the rules? Prayer should be a meditation of gratitude, enlightenment and pondering of scripture.

I've never once gone into the prayer request thread. I have no idea how to pray on behalf of others. One time I was talking to a guy on /r9k/ who said he was gonna kms himself and I said to god something along the lines of "I have no idea how this works but idk can you help him out, I know I'm just a retard and I shouldn't be telling you what to do, but maybe just break my car or something as payment" and then my car got a gas leak.

Do you want me to bring out the psalms quotes?

But I'll admit that people pray for some relatively unreasonable things there.

Job 42:10

>And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before

James 5:16

>Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

1 Timothy 2:1

>First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.

Romans 8:26-27

>Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

James 5:13

>Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise.

Matthew 5:43-45

>“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust

Prayers of petition have always been encouraged by the Lord. And going through the thread, I don't see any examples of anything you listed. I only see people who are troubled and would like God's intercession, which is, again, something Christ encourages in Scripture. Unless you somehow think that praying for the conversion of loved ones is somehow "mind control".

Every day my dad prays that he could just not be stupid. Not to be smart, just to be not stupid.
