Agreed. American Evangelicals in particular do a great job of scaring away potential converts with their outlandish behavior and obsession with money.

As a doubtful teen, I had an eccentric street preacher approach me, shove a pamphlet in my face, and babble about random scripture - an experience that turned me off from the faith. Street preaching is almost always a bad idea… the only case I can see it being beneficial is if you follow Jesus' example and surround yourself with fellow Christians, preaching specifically to them at first rather than passerbys on the street; if onlookers see you have a crowd, they might be more interested in what you have to say.
