So, guess my question is what's responsible for that intense love/crush obsession that seemingly springs up randomly and for no apparent logical reason? Ourselves? Demons? God?

Recently, I've developed this intense attraction to a fictional character. Nothing new for me there, but what struck me as odd is that I've known about this character for over 8 years. I've read her story arc many times, thought about her and her situation many times, but until ~3 months ago, I was emotionally neutral about her. Then one day out of the blue, WHAM! Sitting crying my eyes out on the sofa for hours.

Why now? Why did this emotional assault come at me like this from left field? I have to be very careful what I think right now, otherwise I'll fall back down this emotional spiral and be back to the sofa.
