The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

There's a Cru group at my university, but it conflicts with my schedule. I don't know much about them. My only experience is with Intervarsity and Asian Christian groups. I'm not Asian, but I find them to be more conservative than other campus Christian groups.

I think they're fine, I would look into IHOP (International House of Prayer) as well

Yes absolutely. Cru is a wonderful evangelism group. Countless people are saved because of Cru.

I was very active in college (SEC school), went on an international summer mission and two conferences. I broke from Cru when at my second conference, a speaker was openly embracing an anti-white agenda. Typical cultural marxism. I don't think that's endemic in cru, that's just a trend across US evangelicalism.

Since you don't care about minute theological details I really encourage you to go. The very biggest problem I've seen is that Cru replaces participation in the local church for many college kids. Even evangelism is best in the auspices of the local church.

Intervarsity press has a decades old history of publishing actual marxist socialism in Christian terms

>>772275

steer clear of IHOP

Lot's of well intentioned people but bad, charismatic theology

If it means anything, I'm only doing men's small group Bible study with Intervarsity because it fits with my schedule. I do large group with the Asian students which is a mixture of 4Corners, Klesis, and MakeNew.

I'm sure you're fine, you shouldn't feel hesitancy about participating

so is it like a church service or something? the site says they have large "meetings" and then community groups or something

dae050  No.772317

Cru is massive. At my school, there was a weekly meeting open-invitation, I was part of a smaller group for ROTC cadets, there's one on one discipleship going on, and there's a lot of evangelism programs targeting other unengaged students.

The meeting you're looking at on the website is probably the big one they might have weekly. It's similar to a church service, they might have worship with a guitar before Bible study. It might break up into smaller groups where you talk about the selected passage.

varies I guess depending on where you live. I checked it out on my campus and it seemed like a normie youth group, not much to offer.

>what about fellowship

seemed cliquey like youth group 2.0 for kids who dont want to leave their high school days

maybe im just an pr1ck

Literally this. CRU is theologically fast food. The one time I went, I was finding gross errors being presented as facts and I wasn't particularly God-fearing at the time or remotely trying to be Christian. When someone whose quite lapsed finds errors - that should tell you something.

Anyways,

I recommend OCF if you just have to interact with peers. Otherwise, find a Church and go be an adult. Put on a nice shirt, some khakis, a tie, and GO TO CHURCH. Campus ministries are nice for people who are literally secularist and just now getting over their Angstheism and open to the idea of something more.

But otherwise, go to Church. You're going to be going to Church anyways in your post-college days, so just get used to it now. You'll probably be interacting with potential employers and people who can help you out after you graduate, so it's not just more spiritually beneficial, but socially/economically beneficial too.

campus dynamic is different, esp if you live in a college town. for all their faults, collegiate ministries are great ways to meet solid people. if you just go cold-turkey and "muh go to church in khaki" than chances are you will be a loner. relationship, socializing, networking is an important part of college life. and no, i did actualy stem major with summa cum laude.
