Once you start wiping out the entirety of history of Christendom and think you're little group with Pastor Fred is the only group being saved, you're a cult. I'm not an ecumenist and saying all of those are the same, but I have my limits. They are at least essentially the same, simply for being confessional/Nicene churches.

Ok I can only speak for myself of course but as an independent baptist that recognizes scripture, I have a history to go back to. There has always been churches of like faith and practice just as Matthew 16:18 says, the gates of hell shall not prevail against his church.

If you think that's cultic then its your own fault at that point. And no, I don't know anyone who thinks their "little group[…] is the only group being saved" neither do I think that myself. Ephesians 4:5. And also, as Ephesians 2:20 says, we are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.

Yeah, man.. History is not a theory. There's evidence of what existed and didn't. It wasn't Baptists. You guys have to stop doing this. Isn't it funny how there's only one kind of church out there that believes and urges belief fully in what scripture says as the word of God and thus the final authority while everyone else is scrambling to argue that it's all relative? Ok, you're going to have to do better than this. Please explain exactly what you mean here and what you're objecting to so that we can do a better job of answering you. From what it seems you are simply being overly trusting of current day scholarship (despite the evidence of how far it's fallen) as something that cannot fail and placing all hopes on the accolades of man.

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

No seriously, if your local pastor says "Everyone is OBVIOUSLY lying and not even trying to listen to the word of God and we're the only pure group", and you just fall in and believe it, then you need those verses like right now.

Depends on what you mean by "only group." If you mean you already forgot what I said about Matthew 16:18 then it's your loss. There is one type of church that recognizes God's word throughout history, that's the kind that Matthew 16:18 is about.
