The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

How many of you here are 40k players? Whether the tabletop, Dawn of War, Battlefleet, third person shooter space marine games etc. doesn’t matter, what is your take on the lore? I personally like the games and the lore and I find it to be much more alluring and entrapping with its fluff than anything of the people who decried against DnD during the “Satanic Panic” (which makes me think those people are nothing more than hysteric attention seekers as I always find myself literally falling asleep every time I play a DND secession) or any media that doesn’t try to emulate Christian-like aesthetics and structure

I like the WH40K universe: kinda cathartic to see the Tau getting squished under the boots of the Imperium (filthy commie xeno scum…)

Could be one of the greatest, both in size and craftsmanship, fictional universes I have experienced in my life. Or not. It is at the mercy of some self-destructive hand rubbing (((goblins))).

>kinda cathartic to see the Tau getting squished under the boots of the Imperium

Actually, they are barely holding under a massive Death Guard offensive, nowadays.

Pretty funny.

It gets better.

They have upped the realpolitik and stalinism of the T'au big time.

With stuff like dissenters "dissapearing", and reeducation even for minor stuff like castes not being rigidly in their roles(water castes making statues, or fire castes doing vehicle repair).

They decided to base their expansion fleet's engine on Imperial warp tech, only without navigators and gellar fields.

That resulted in 100+ ships activating their warp drives it at the same time, which resulted in a huge ass Warp Rift devouring most of their army in vivid, daemonic detail, on live TV, in front of everyone.

Of course, they covered it up, but everyone knows what really happened.

After some shenanigans, they found out that the Rift turned into a stable route, and they are still alive on the other side, but being stuck in the Warp with more psychic auxilia made them have to kill them in self-defence when they got possessed, and that has turned the T'au colonists on the other side into PTSD'd Atomwaffen Division-types, with reports of xenophobic ethnic cleansing of humans and kroot, which of course, the Ethereals treated it with a slap on the wrist.

Oh, and they've invited the Dark Angels as deniable assets, to purge a human world of the Empire that had a psychic epidemic.

Also, it seems the minor border wars between them and the Imperium are a calculated resource sink for both sides, to get rid of commanders that are too uppity for the Ethereals.

Oh, and their leader got assassinated by an imperial assassin, so they made an AI simulacra as a puppet leader, propped by the Ethereal Council.

Oh, and this happened:

THE GREATER GOOD CORRUPTED

A lone Genestealer from Hive Fleet Gorgon reaches the Tau sept world of Ksi’m’yen. The creature is captured by the planet’s Earth caste scientists and subjected to extensive analysis, resulting in a lowly worker being implanted with a measure of germ-seed. The grotesque anatomies that spring up in the laboratories are seen as curios rather than blasphemous by the ever-inquisitive Earth caste, for the Tau approach to alien life forms is founded on the concept of acceptance and tolerance. When the research divisions experience a bloody schism twenty years later, the Fire caste are called in, only to find many subterranean research facilities overrun. Ksi’m’yen is consumed by war, and quarantined for almost ten years before the eccentric Ethereal Aun’ghol declares it productive and clean.

Will Cybork Fishskin pull it through?

The writers tried to make out that the emperor getting crippled and having his empire turn into the embodiment of every fedora-fag tier criticism he had of religion as a whole was tragic, but to me it feels like karma

Yeah I can't help find the ultra-humanism of the empire very emm wrong lets say. With that in mind I sense that various aspects of the forces of chaos are supposed to be rips on Christianity. Perhaps im wrong there.

That being said I'd take its grim dark view of such a future over the comparable peace and liberalism of star trek any day. I'd say Legend of the Galactic heroes competes.

When I used to build the models I was a necron-a-boo with a bit of dark eldar on the side

>I'd take everything is terrible, everyone is terrible, nothing works, everyone is doomed to die in horrible ways, all is lost, hope is dead over Humanity uniting and more-or-less peacefully dominating all of existence any day

Be careful what you wish for; I'd see you and everyone else here in my SLAVE PENS in COMMORRAGH.

I played tabletop, board games, roleplaying games and almost all of the computer games since Space Hulk except some of the freshest title my computer can't handle. I'm also Warhammer Fantasy nerd.

I love 40k, it's fantastic lore, ludicrously over the top settings and characters, it's grim darkness, the memes, the games

10/10 universe

But at the end of the day it's Just a fantasy.

A really cool yet dumb fantasy

This is what we ought to keep in mind: a bit of escapism here and there is fine; but we should not obsess over it.

40k is my favorite fictional universe bar none
