The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Best book to read after the Bible for any Christian?

8fb105  No.761811

St. Augustine's Confessions + City of God.

A catechism, of the denomination of your choice of course.

If you really mean "for any Christian" then I can't help, since I'm not aware of any author who manages to be perfectly Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant at once. C. S. Lewis is praised by all three so maybe something from him? I haven't read him though.

From an unbiased, inpartisan view…. you should read Unam Sanctam by Boniface VIII. It should be mandatory reading tbh

The Way of a Pilgram

It's a great book for all denoms and a simple instruction manuel on how to "pray without ceasing" per St. Paul's suggestion.

No, not really. Pope Boniface VIII had a tendency to (to his own harm) dramatise what he was saying (perhaps here not in a very high degree, but still, it should be taken into account when reading anything by Boniface VIII), and Unam Sanctam, like most other papal documents you will read, follows a specific jargon and takes for granted certain circumstances (e.g. the way in which specifically medieval governments worked) that together might mislead a 21st century man and lead him to incorrect conclusions. And the danger of misunderstanding what the pope ia saying is several times higher when the person reading has no knowledge of Catholic theology in general. It's like you want to learn physics and instead of reading a simple school textbook, you begin with a professional, jargon-filled article in an academic newspaper.
