The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Pope says fear of migrants can make people crazy…

“Fear makes us crazy,” Francis replied.

ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (Reuters) - Pope Francis suggested on Wednesday that hostility to immigrants was driven by irrational fear, as he headed to Central America, a staging area from where migrants try to enter the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Congress to provide him with $5.7 billion to help fund a U.S.-Mexico border wall to keep migrants out - a demand the Democrats refuse to meet, leading to a partial shutdown of the federal government. One of the reporters flying with the Pope to Panama told him he had recently seen a barrier designed to deter migrants that juts out into the Pacific Ocean in San Diego, the western edge of the U.S. border with Mexico, and described it as a “folly”.

Immigration is expected to be one of the main themes of the pope’s six-day trip to Panama. Underscoring his firm focus on the issue, Francis met eight refugees living in Rome before heading to the airport for his flight. The Jan. 23-28 visit to Panama for the Church’s World Youth Day is the pope’s first foreign trip of 2019. The 82-year-old pontiff is also scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Romania this year, and said a visit to Japan was on the cards. “I am going to Japan in November. Get ready,” he told reporters on board his plane.

Francis said he also wanted to visit Iraq but had been advised it was still too dangerous. A Vatican official said last year that Pope Francis would consider the possibility of an unprecedented visit to North Korea. He said such a trip would need “serious preparation” and there has been no sign that it might happen any time soon.

That must mean thousands of years of human history was nothing but crazy people…since borders were the norm in human civilization. While globalist style governments were smashed to a million pieces (Tower of Babel), and never popped up their head out much, except via the most evil imperial presences in history (which eventually fell too).

I sympathize with the main impulse of opening the doors of the Church to everyone, and that the people of God are truly universal..but that has nothing to do with governments. "Your ways are not my ways," says the Lord. He strangely equates this open arms policy of the Church with the WHOLE WORLD and projects it on them… as if they are all motivated by Christ's love too. It's disgusting to watch a bishop line up with everything the UN does, and condemns any concerns, even from within Christians circles, that is outside of it. As if all concerned Christians lack any sense and are "crazy", while the UN reflects God's love or something.

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but whatever. /rantoff

It hasn't been the one true church since vat 2

Daily reminder catholics have had worse popes than Francis and they still survive as Christians.

Hopefully they get their shit together with the next pope and undo Vat 2 and all this modernist garbage.

The same way Trump is evil but Hillary is ok?

No one believes you anymore, leftist clown.

Plenty of faithful Catholics simply ignore what this pope says and just wait for him to die.

Fear of your children being molested and relatives brutally killed by said migrants is totally healthy tho.

Who cares about law and order anyway in this day and age.

He's right though. While I wouldn't reject or support the nation's policies since immigration isn't a simple black and white issue at all, I think we as individuals are supposed to offer hospitality to all of our neighbors, including immigrants.

I doubt Hillary's immigration policies would be much different than Trump. Obama spent more on handling Mexican border and keeping the illegial immigrants out than Trump does. Obama was also notorious for making "concentration camp" for illegal immigrants. Democrats are just biased against Trump. I don't think Francis is pointing his fingers at anyone, it's just a social critique.

I'm more worried about the drugs they're carrying. Still, statistics say most of the immigrants who carry drugs passed the border legally.

What a gay poop.

>I'm more worried about migrants bringing in drugs than about my mother and daughter being raped to death

>we should offer "hospitality" to migrants who are brought to our country as an act of genocide
