The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Is it heretical for me to refer God as El, Elohim, and YHWH, like the ancient Israelite did?

232b6b  No.758142

Why would it be?

What's your objective by using them?

a7a03b  No.758143

Not heretical at all… but maybe so if you think other people using

"Lord" are wrong. The NT and Septuagint are witnesses themselves that the word Lord was completely appropriate. The whole Sacred Name movement never made any sense to me because of this.

It's just dumb LARPing.

No one knows how "YHWH" was pronounced. The last priest who was able to pronounce the name died in like 400 A.D. So I would say it's inappropriate.

I ask because the Apostles seem to practice the Jewish idea that God's (actual) name is so holy it must be censored, so they rely other titles like Theos and kýrios

Plus the name "Elohim" is one of the evidences for the Trinity within the OT.

They've never said they outright censored it. That is indirect at best. It very well could be an intentional usage, simply because Jesus had invited all nations to the new covenant, and it was no longer about God in times past setting a specific nation apart (and thus communicating through a specific manner).

I used to think why we never say YHWH (Yahweh) when we pray but then i realized that we actually did. Lord or (Adonai in Aramaic) signifies YHWH.

08cbd5  No.758238

it's called Jesus

dumb goy

Might not answer Op's question, but relevant.

mostly this, but the Jews referred to God as "Adonai" out of respect for the Holy Name. When we refer to God, we call Him "Jesus", as well.

>>758196

it's signification out of respect, to use the Holy Name with abandon is a bit disrespectful as a consequence
