This, always. The great spiritual writers like St. John of the Cross, St Teresa of Avila, St. Benedict, etc., all advise that personal revelation only be believed if in 100% concordance with catholic doctrine. The orthodox consider such things prelest, spiritual delusion, and as such they just ignore any personal revelation automatically on principle. And most of these saints speak from much experience of rejecting things like that. Failing to do so leads to your Swedenborgs and your John Smiths.
>But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach to you a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be accursed -Galatians 1;8
