The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Ok, I’m not putting this in the prayer request thread because LOTS of advice is also needed. This takes place in America btw, so think about it’s laws when I get to the legal part

>be my good friend, we’ll call him Craig

>Craig’s mom’s spine was discovered to have a tumor on it that can turn cancerous. Was found a few weeks ago

>insurance company knew about it for a year and did nothing

>Craig’s family considering legal action

>chemo is a 40% death chance

>can’t have surgery because it may paralyze her, so no doctor wants to operate

>doctors said to wait, but Craig doesn’t know how long until she can get treatment

>good news is that money isn’t an issue when it comes to treatment

>as far as I know, I’m the only one outside of his family that knows, although he could have told more people. He wants to keep it on the down-low, if you will

>I myself don’t know what I can do for him besides be there for him and make this thread

So obviously Craig’s family needs prayers, but seeing as how they’re considering legal action, they need advice on whether they can win or not, and how to handle this type of issue in court. This is in America, remember, so the laws over there may be different than what it is in your country. Plz give advice and prayers, and may God be with us and bless us all. Thank you in advance.

Mate, I will pray for your friend, but my only advice is that if you want legal advice, talk to a professional.

I have unspeakable anger at those people and will pray for her.

not an american but isn't it the medical practitioner that makes decisions about treatments, and the insurance company that decides on if they're willing to find it based on the plan?

anyway if whoever is medically responsible for making decisions about the patient's health has been negligent then you need to contact a malpractice lawyer.

as for the treatment that tumor is only going to get worse the longer you wait, I've had to deal with doctors who put you on insane waiting lists and from my experience it's just a sign they don't have the time for you so don't waste it, this is clearly urgent so any doctor who isn't willing to get her sorted out as soon as they can isn't worth wasting time on so you should try your best to find an oncologist who's willing to treat her. the best option is to cast a wide net and write to as many as you can, include her medical notes and ask if they're willing to treat her

as far as how to handle this kind of thing in court the lawyer will handle most of it and because this is the type of case that requires a specialist malpractice lawyer they'll have experience in the field so they'll walk you through the process. If you can prove that they made a mistake or didn't treat her properly when they should have then you're entitled to a remedy and they will be liable for their mistake.

forgot to mention i'm praying for you all, I know how tough going through a medical issue is, just remember God will bring you out of it, and I'm sure they're all feeling lucky that God's sent them such a good friend in hard times
