The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Anyone here been very zealous and then lukewarm? How did you reignite your faith and practice?

I've developed this feeling that God is in control of everything and I don't need to really do anything special or challenging, I don't need to stress about the world or other people, the grand plan is unfolding as it should, I can just chill and seek what is good, avoid what is evil. But it feels kinda plain. I used to judge others and have strict expectations, now I'm more mellow.

Go soulwinning. Nothing like fishing for men to reignite the fire in your heart.

Totally not my style or interest.

Have a constant rule of prayer. Just like anything, Daily practice is the best way to get better and have more “on” days. Even if it’s just reading a chapter of the Bible and praying for 30 minutes each morning and/or night, just being consistent will produce great results.

To be fair such a principle isn't bad, in fact it's a central tenant of the gospel and a core element of the faith that gets lost in such a settled period of christianity's life. There was a thread about a week ago where a certain strain of christian showed itself to be much more prominent on this board than I realized; i.e. the shut in who's zeal is entirely confined to their private and internet life out of social anxiety. That kind of zeal dosen't last; it's hard to remain faithful when the world is at war with us and we really don't feel like we can fight back. It's a problem that both they and I had to struggle with. I think I'm going to make a thread on the topic of internet evangelization, because I do think that fishing for men is exactly what a lot of us need, although with the obvious caviat that it requires much more than soulwinning tactics to actually, you know, win souls.

Discipline is the key. There's really no excuse for lukewarmness, especially nowadays with the countless resources available to anyone through means like the internet.

I'm pretty sure people already have their souls given to men in three piece suits.

I've developed the protestant mind. I sin and tell myself "oh well, I'm saved anyway and I'm weak and only God can transform me and save me…"

Before I used to freak out when I sinned and questioned my faith : am I really a Christian if I sin ? Does this cancel my salvation?

Now I'm like: I'm Christian and I sin…it sucks but I'm still saved I hope…

Don't worry, most of us that are serious about our faith are anyways. Just because sola fide doesn't mean OSAS.

>don't get how protestants aren't constantly shitting their pants worrying that they're not doing enough

Faith leads to works leads to faith. Whatever the Holy Spirit moves the Protestant to do is enough, because he recognises that it is not just him who acts but God as well.

>Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

>For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
